Hmm, certainly something to ponder on as I had not known much of what you mentioned re the subject of Elvis and his parents. Fortunately, I did not have any of these experiences as a child but the mere thought of being locked in a closet gives me chills as I am claustrophobic.
However, as you say, Elvis was able to rise up above and forgive his treatment as a child, testament to his beautiful character and sweet soul.
This is unrelated but thought I'd just add it: we get some back-dated programs of Oprah Winfrey show here via digital tv and saw one yesterday relating to Hurricane Katrina. Lisa was Oprah's 'Angel Network' contact in Memphis and was helping to buy needed items for the poor people in Mississippi/New Orleans etc. These were then transported by Fed-Ex down to the areas affected to help so many who had lost so much.
The whole point though is, she was so happy and into helping and doing whatever she could to be of assistance. How happy and proud her Daddy would be to have witnessed his beloved special princess giving so much. Being so loving, caring and generous.
There was one moment, when she was talking to some of the other helpers, when she gave this really sweet, shy smile. Oh, Lord, did it ever remind me of Elvis, he sure does live on through Lisa.
Don't know if you've seen this but many other stars helped in other ways too and it was very moving. Makes you realise what you do have and all the blessings in your life. Some things do seem so very trivial in the light of what others have lost, not just material possessions, but more important, family members and so much else.
All for now,
Peace to you,
Sue
