Thanks for posting the link Sarena. Yes indeed Elvis did have a great vocal range on top of his other vocal & musical gifts, including having the incredible ability to put his very heart & soul into each song. His songs had both vocal and emotional/spiritual depth. Plus his intutivie abilities in song interpretion were so amazing. Oh that voice! (A)

It's pretty wild how over the years, as he grew older his voice deepened. I think he could have given Pavarotti a run for his money. The crazy thing is that he could really hit those high notes too. I read somewhere that Dr.Nick said he was giving Elvis testosterone. I wonder if that had anything to do with his voice deepening so much. Just incredible and mesmerizing to listen to him.

I feel that Elvs' deeper voice was pure natural and I love it.
I love especially his voice in 1975 in the songs from the Album "Today". Listen to "Bringing it back" , "Ican help", "Susan when she tried"......
8) :hello:

Sarena, do you feel that this is another one of those rumors out there? When I read that I wondered why in heaven's name he would need testosterone. The only thing I could think of was that the cortizone Elvis had to take caused a hormone imbalance. We just never know what to believe when reading something. When I read something like that I should bookmark it so I can create a link for it. I thought it was a bit far-fetched when I first read it, but then again you just never know.

I'm with you Sarena, I think that Elvis' voice just gotten deeper because of Elvis getting older. You know another thing I have never heard Elvis do while he sang is he never Missed a Note, or he never Lost his Voice.

Laura, yes I think it's a rumour! I read also the better books about Elvis by people who were singers themselves, and I mean Kathy Westmoreland and Charlie Hodge. They talked also about Elvis' vocal abilities and never mentioned Testosterone...
Just compare Elvis' first records in the early fifties with the early sixties when he did songs like "It's now or never". What a change in his voice, so much more matured! And his voice changed again so much over the years, it's almost incredible and sooo beautiful.

I read somewhere that Elvis worked very hard to increase his vocal range and strength, and that he really wanted to be known for his voice, not his swinging hips from the 50s which is what most people first thought of when they heard his name mentioned.
