BASICS:
1) you must have your image somewhere on the web
2) FOR AVATARS: in your "profile" at the bottom where it says "link to off site avatar" put the URL to your photo: http://www.WHATEVER. (com, org, net, etc)/images/NAMEOFIMAGE. (jpg or gif)
3) then hit "submit"
4) FOR POSTS: place the url into the post, highlight it, and then select "img" from the bar above the posting box.

For a place to put your photos on the web so that you can then upload them to this forum, you can use PHOTOBUCKET. You can also use it to display your avatars. You have to subscribe to Photobucket in order to use it, but it is free.

Once you upload your image from your computer into your Photobucket album, you are given three code choices: URL, TAG & IMG. For displaying your AVATARS, choose URL. For uploading your images into your posts, choose IMG.

CREATE A SLIDESHOW OF YOUR PHOTOS AND ART ON PHOTOBUCKET

You can easily create a slideshow of a series of photos or art on Photobucket. HERE IS HOW...

1) In your album, look for "MY SUB-ALBUMS" on the left side of the page right under the "UPLOAD." .Directly across on the left from this you will see a box to type in and then a "SUBMIT" button. Put the NAME of your sub-album in the box and hit "submit."

2) Now you have an EMPTY sub-album. To put pictures in it, first click on the sub-album name you created that is now a hyper-link. This takes you into the empty album. THEN UPLOAD FROM YOUR COMPUTER THE IMAGES YOU WISH TO SEE IN THIS SUB-ALBUM.

3) To create a slideshow of just these images, click on the "SAVE AS SLIDESHOW" on the blue bar at the stop of the page. You can then more or less follow the instructions, but if you need more help:
