How Elvis viewed women

Postby Blue Moon on Thu Nov 09, 2006 4:27 pm

Quote from WR,E
Dammit honey, some of the sweetest women aren't ravin' beauties-it's what's inside that counts...the heart ya know;

I love this quote from Elvis. It struck a chord with me because it really reflects the depth he had in his heart.

Elvis understood the value of the human soul in both men & women. He could look past the shell which holds the soul. He understood what was most important in life.

It behooves one to sense God as dwelling within each of us, rather than as some distant entity, far above and seemingly beyond our reach.

YOU KNOW LAURIE I HAVE READ AND READ WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAID ELVIS LOOKED FOR IN A WOMEN, BUT AFTER I READ WHAT ELVIS HIMSELF SAID. I KNEW WHAT I HAD READ COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ELVIS, BECAUSE I KNEW HE LOOKED WITHIN A PERSON INSTEAD OF OUT. FAIRYTALE!
WITHOUT A SONG THE DAY WOULD NEVER END, WITHOUT A SONG A MAN AIN'T GOT A FREIND, WITHOUT A SONG. SO I KEEP ON SINGING A SONG.

Elvis did look for beautiful women, liked them to look a certain way, not skinny and he liked them rounded, soft and not too tall though after Pris he did have Linda who was totally different looking =-maybe for a reason he chose that difference. Though he said there was beauty in all women, just had to look inside sometimes to find the most beautiful of all. But he wanted innocence sometimes, most I'd say and then there was the other side of him that wanted "bad girls" who were wild about him and would do anything under the sun to be with him and he got a kick from that as well. As he got older he was more into reading, talking and not so as he put it, slam, bang, thank ya mam kind of knee jerk reaction-
He was looking for someone to compliment his personality and who could tolerate his life style and there were not that many who would stay like Linda did-she fell in love with him and he was lucky there. The others just loved him, being with him, looking after him for a short while, then off they went until the next time. He liked that also-gave him freedom. He didn't like to feel he HAD to be with someone person all the time...he wanted to be free to follow his heart and I guess that worked best in his life on the road etc:. Yet he also wanted a tie, something to come home to-I guess that his little girl filled that need after he got over the rough parts of losing his wife. He was calling his little girl when he was down and blue and she cheered him up, and he had other people he talked to about bothersome things and so we all filled that need so I guess he had the best of it all looked at in that way. He said that he was told he was "cheating on his wife by calling other women and by spending time talking with them by phone or in person" He didn't understand that very well, they were only friends...and he needed to be able to talk to outside people to get a prespective on what was happening to him and around him...he didn't feel it cheating at all-but I guess his wife did... he said she didn't understand and he couldn't explain it. She didn't believe him and asked him to stop doing it all-to call her, talk to her and to come home when he needed to talk in person. But he said when he tried to talk to her a bout some things, she didn't want to hear it, didn't want to talk about such things and wasn't interested in what he thought...so he called his friends and they listened and helped him think clearly about some things...and she didn't do that for him. I just can't figure it out yet-I guess they were so different, in so many ways, there wasn't a way for them to come around to each ones ways about most things.
It was strictly physical attraction between them, something from their past maybe, and they were destined to try again and maybe Lisa had to be born or her children had to be and he and Pris were the route for them. Whatever, there is a divine plan-that I believe and we all fall into it right or wrong. The end result will be fulfilled regardless. Someday we will know. wjh

I feel that there is much truth in this statement. Apart from the physical attration there was surely a deep karmic bond as well.

I agree, Sue. Elvis was innocent and pure is so many ways and he did not "get" that there was anything wrong with talking to friends about lots of diverse things and he did that because she either did not want to or could not understand what Elvis was really about inside. I would not care if my husband talked to other women or men on the phone or in person because everyone that is human needs to be able to discuss things that can not be talked about with a spouse. In fact, my husband goes every single year and hunts deer with a friend who is also a woman.
It makes him happy and really that is all Elvis wanted---to be happy and to find answers to the questions he had about "Why him."

Postby juliepresleyfan on Sun May 04, 2008 5:18 am

great so maybe elvis would not have ever looked at me and gone yuk, im so glad to hear that, he was a special soul , and saw the good in all people.
i read he used to look at the graceland monitors and see the fans outside waiting and pick the most not beutifull of people, ordinary people like me i guess, and tell the memphis guys off for saying some were ugly good old elvis .
a true man in every way.
thankyou elvis for looking futher than this shell we carry around with us
so many people see me as ugly, i was beginning to agree with em, but i must not hey girls.
i must admit i wish i was just pretty , but you cant win em all can you

infact i was scared that when i came on here at first that id be judged by my obvious failing of not good looks, but as it turned out i need not have worried thankyou for that ladies, ive reganed my faith in people again
because of you all, and actually consider myself worth while maybe
as a human being

Julie, you are a beautiful woman, and you have a shining, lovely and tender heart, full of giving, kindness, patience and understanding that puts you far above many of those out there in "radio land" who may be raving beauties in the physical sense but who have no heart, no love and no careing for others. Beauty is what comes from within, my grandma told me that when I was an "ugly duckling" for real as a youngster. I was pudgy, had tacky frizzy and funny cut hair (my step mom cut it) and my face was ugly , big red nose and I had lots of bumps that weren't the regular acene stuff kids have-it was a part of my Rh tendencies even then-connective skin tissue problems-I still have a bit of that but now it's more other areas of my frame work. But I wasn't anything to look at and hated to have my picture taken and that's why there are so few of me when younger. That hatred stayed with me- I still hate it. But I am supposed to be having Starla take pictures and will when I can catch her and the weather is favorable as we will do them outside- the flash doesn't do a good job in doors and it's that kind of camera she has... It needs more light than she has inside her house or mine. Anyway, the wind either blows and I can't go out much or it's overcast and cold or she's at work so.... at least it's cooler today and early one morning we'll try to do that.

Anyway, don't ever think of yourself as being "ugly" JulieSharonRose-you are anything but that! You have beautiful eyes and hair and your loving nature shines. We love you here - and Elvis would have enjoyed being your friend, talking to you and laughing- he would have tried to talk England style no doubt and cracked you up alot with that...he was good at doing accents- he could have been a comic and done impersonations!
Especially Johnny Cash! That was a riot! wjh

Slow but surely it's getting done- though the pages keep growing in number! I don't want to miss anything or leave out something and regret it later. Crazy fer sure, and I'm not rushing anymore. Please be patient and hopefully, it will be worth the wait.
Thanks for being here-
