Wanda will be able to reply more extensively than I could ever do I'm certain but I think he had a certain knowing, understanding this was part of his mission to do whatever he could for as long as he had the chance. Even though circumstances may have been difficult including his documented (on ELC website) health conditions and personal life problems, but he wanted to and did more than his very best, it seems to me, for the One above! Elvis was given a very special gift to share and thank God he gave of himself so often and so willingly I'm pretty sure he had some knowing/realization.
