When he was alive it wasn't built up nearly as it is now. Just a mile or so from his house was slum housing, where he used to go visit and give money away at Christmas time. There was a gas station nor far, the Highway was called 51 I think it was, but they finally got around to naming it after him- while he was alive. He didn't care what they named after him if they were going to do, he just was tired of reading about it and all the stuff going on trying to "choose the right thing" etc: in the paper. I think he was surprised that it was the highway though- he thought it'd be maybe a school or some building down town or something like that. He was very proud of his home and then to live on his "own street" that was something to that poor, country boy etc:...
Everytime something like that came up, he got an award or named something etc:...he was always surprised and pleased quietly and he often wondered why etc;. Just one more "why" to his list of "why me"s".
A few times I just said, "Shall I make a list?" And he'd always back off his whying for a while. I should have made one and sent it to him!
He'd of got a laugh out of it probably- Then added a "Why does she think that of me"? to his list.
Well, that "computer crash" was funny- and so true too! Cats are funny, they'll attatch themselves to things their owner is attatched to--- like Starla's cat Luna who was declawed when she took her in, will jump on Starla's day runner which is leather zippered etc; and she uses all the time, and Luma will "scratch" away on it it with her paws and roll on it and then lay on it- she's a big cat and she covers it totally. But it's something her "momma" treasures so she "loves it" too. Starla said when she gets a new one, she is going to give Luma the old one- but what I think is Luma will attatch to the new one pretty quickly too- as it will be "going everwhere with" Starla and so that counts!
Bye, it's so muggy, I feel lousy today in this Okie weather!
