T. Kinkade to paint Christmas @ Graceland, see study sketch

Postby Blue Moon » Mon Aug 11, 2008 4:00 am

Thomas Kinkade, one of America’s most popular painters, has just finished his “study sketch” of his newly commissioned canvas painting “Christmas at Graceland”. The Thomas Kinkade Memphis Gallery has already begun taking orders. Last year’s Graceland-painting sold out in no time. This time, he’ll produce 3 different sizes, with prices varying from 750 to 1680 $US.

It behooves one to sense God as dwelling within each of us, rather than as some distant entity, far above and seemingly beyond our reach.

You're welcome Mari. Kinkade's Christmas & snow scenes are my favorites of his paintings, so I was really pleased to read he was commissioned to do a Graceland Christmas.

Of course, the above is just a study sketch. For my personal tastes, I hope the final product has a little bit deeper snow than what the sketch shows, a few more inches perhaps. Glad to see the pink Cadilac is there.

i wrote the artist a letter. Why doesn't he include little Lisa.
Christmas is a family occasion and since he includes Pris who in reality was his ex let's face it, why ommit Lisa??????

It would be so lovely to see little Lisa next to them playing in the snow or something

Good idea Nadine/Alna. You are right, Christmas is a family occasion. Of course, the pink cadellac would have to be removed, unless Elvis still had it when Lisa was born; which I don't know but am guessing if he did he would not have used it much or had it sitting out front.

Another option is that if Kinkade wanted to keep it a 50's scene, he could put Elvis with his mother & father in lieu of Pris.

What beautiful ideas both of you lovely ladies had!! :D I would love to see either a Christmas scene with maybe just Elvis and his little Yessa enjoying some fun in the snow, or since it seems Mr. Kinkade drew a parallel to the 50's by including the pink cadillac, maybe he could do as you suggested sweet Laurie and include him with his mom and dad in some form of winter setting. :) I seem to recall having seen a b&w video clip at one point of Vernon and Gladys during the winter, shortly after Elvis bought Graceland, having a bit of fun with each other while throwing a bit of snow at each other that was scraped off the cadillac. Maybe something like that could somehow be incorporated into the picture? :?

Agree 100% with these wonderful ideas! Specially love the idea, dear Mari of Elvis playing with his 'Yeesa' in the snow and would be great if this could be somehow incorporated into the picture, how lovely and believe Mr Kinkade has the talent and creative visualisation skills needed to bring this pretty scene so much alive! :D
