I've been trying to figure out the extent of Elvis's interest in astrology and would greatly appreciate any information anyone here can provide, to shed some light on the matter.
I've read a number of books about Elvis, but it seems there is conflicting information about how seriously he took astrology. One the one hand, he did read many books by people whose world-view hinged upon astrology and numerology (which ties in with astrology in many ways.) And he had his birth chart done by legendary astrologer Dane Rudhyar. Therefore he must have been more interested than your average man in this science.
So it's very strange to me that, despite his uncommonly keen interest in oriental thinking (karate, Buddhist philosophy) and his SEEMING receptivity to astrological ideas, and his general brilliance, he would think he was born in the Year of the Pig, when he wasn't. See here:

Most people I know who are born in January, even those who aren't much interested in astrology, know that the Chinese New Year falls after their birthdays, and they get their Chinese signs right. It's hard for me to understand why Elvis would have gotten that wrong, especially considering his immersion in karate, and the prominence of the animal signs in that culture. It's been said that if you tell a Chinese person your animal sign, they immediately know your age, because their calendar IS the signs. I'm sure Kang Rhee was aware Elvis was a Dog. It's extraordinary to think they just never discussed it.
Wanda, if you're reading this, can you tell me if Elvis ever discovered and laughed about his mistake? Did he ever find you a Dog soap?
Any insights from the group I would also be profoundly grateful for. Should I just assume Elvis really didn't put much credence in the oriental system of astrology, or the Western system, and managed to not pay attention?
Many thanks.
Love,
Trish
