George Clooney: Darfur Darfur: How You Can Help. Darfur Video Clips.

Tackling the topic of Darfur is very much a joint effort by the father-son team of Nick and George Clooney.

Their documentary, "A Journey To Darfur" premiered on AmericanLife TV Network on January 15 2007 and includes previously unseen footage from their trip to Darfur in April 2006.

100% of AmericanLife TV's proceeds from the sale of George & Nick Clooney's A Journey to Darfur DVD will go to Not On Our Watch.

In April 2006, George Clooney and his father, Nick Clooney, travelled to Sudan and Chad with the International Rescue Committee, to see the devastation in Darfur for themselves.

A video was made during the Clooneys trip (Part one Part two Part three) Pictures were taken.
Countless interviews were given (including George and Nick on the Today Show - Part one Part two)
On April 30 2006, a rally took place in Washington, orchestrated by the Save Darfur Coalition. George and Nick Clooney gave speeches.
On September 13 2006, George, Nick and Nina Clooney attended a dinner in New York City, hosted by the Save Darfur Coalition.

On September 25 2006, George Clooney attended a Burbank press conference where California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation to divest state pension money from Sudan.
In December 2006, George Clooney, Don Cheadle and Joey Cheek travelled to China and Egypt to talk to representatives about the ongoing genocide in Darfur. See the pictures.
On Dec. 15 George Clooney (with the above) met with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, where a press conference followed.

In January 2007, Nick Clooney was interviewed by MSNBC and Channel 9.
On March 25 2007, George Clooney wrote an open letter to German chancellor Angela Merkel "calling on her to take 'decisive action' in the region in the face of al-Bashir's failure to respond to the U.N. resolutions."
Nick Clooney continues to give speeches and participate at Darfur awareness events all over the Country. As of October 2007, he has given 89 presentations on the topic.
In May 2007, George Clooney co-founded Not On Our Watch and continues to raised funds and awareness through the charity.
George Clooney features in 'Darfur Now' and narrates/executive-produces 'Sand and Sorrow'.
On December 13 2007, the 8th World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates presented George Clooney and Don Cheadle with the 2007 Peace Summit Award - for their humanitarian work on Darfur - at its annual meeting in Rome.
In January 2008, George Clooney made a second trip to Darfur and Chad, and also visited the Democratic Republic of Congo and India.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us Sue my sweet friend! I have always admired George Clooney not just for looks, but also for the great level of heart and compassion he seems to have, and willingness to help out for a good cause! I remember the impassioned pleas he made to and the very strong stand he took against the media when dear Princess Diana died. I think it's absolutely fantastic that his parents are assisting him in his efforts concerning Darfur as well!!

I was moved recently by "The Translator" a book I've read by Daoud Hari; the title's quite self-explanatory as to his work with the world's media to bring the horrors of what was happening to the people of Darfur, no thanks to their government, many times at the risk to Mr Hari's own life. Finally, after being put in prison and tortured there, he was able by a chance of a million to one, was able to - thanks to American media correspondents and friends of his - be transported to America where he carries on the good work but is somewhere he will remain safe; his positivity and outlook on life is truly inspirational considering so much of what he's witnessed and experienced in his life so far!

Thank you so much for letting us know about the book "The Translator" and explaining what it is about. May God bless Mr. Hari for his efforts as well and thank goodness that he was able to be rescued and is now in a safe place where he can carry on all of his good works!!

Despite so much of what he saw and witnessed, he could've got so sore and bitter at what the government have done to his people but his attitude and words are truly inspirational and spiritual!
