Heavenly Light That Shone In The Night

I began to realize how much I loved Jesus when aged about 7 years old. I wasn't raised in a Christian household. I have experienced many wonderful experiences on my journey of learning about God and how much he loves me. One night has such a beautiful and special memory for me and I am aware that what I experienced was unique to me but has similarities to many of the stories on this site.

I had been attending an Alpha Course in a group of about 6 people in someone's home. Each week we would take it in turns to cook a meal and afterwards watch a video and talk about the wonders of God. I cannot even express how much I loved this time and it gave me a feeling of belonging. Its almost as though I'd been fumbling around in the darkness looking for God and I felt so happy to be with people who loved God the same as me.

It was on the evening after the final day of the course whereby we had celebrated a holy spirit day. At night from my bedroom I always looked out on to a little church in the distance where I could see a cross on the roof. Above it there was always a star shining in the sky. I would always smile as the sight filled me with love for God.

I went to bed alone and it was approx 1 am when I awoke and reached out my hands. In the left hand corner of my bedroom I saw a beautiful light. This light was so bright and yet I was able to look into it. I could see a tunnel of diffused light behind it. As I began to smile I was filled with a feeling so gentle and tender, a feeling of pure love and peace. It was absolutely gorgeous. I had the sensation that I was being carried into this light and as I looked down I could see my body smiling on the bed and I looked so beautiful.

A voice spoke softly to me and although I understood the words it was to beautiful to be human. The voice said to me "you are my child and I love you" I then felt a soft little kiss on my spirit and was back in my body and my bed. As I sat up the beautiful light had gone. I could never even put in to words how I felt, but I wrote a verse after it happened and I feel so very blessed.

I reached out my hands to the heart of the Lord,

He knew he was the one that I'd always adored

As I opened my eyes I saw a light

That shone in my room in the still of the night.

My spirit soared like the wings of a dove

To the heart of the light that was shining above.

Loving words were spoken to me and as I looked down

I could clearly see,

My face reflecting the love in my heart

For the father who's cared for me right from the start.

A kiss touched my soul to seal this love

That could only have come from heaven above.

That is an uplifting post and I thank you for putting it up. I had not read it before and it sure has a soft beauty surrounding the words. You must be a beautiful person inside to know how this would touch our hearts here in such a positive and loving way with your post.

Our sweet Sue's beauty definitely shines from inside her loving and caring heart, and she certainly does have a very special way of making someone feel so uplifted by the things she says and shares here with all of us! :wink:
