Elvis was & is worth defending

Postby Blue Moon » Sat Apr 29, 2006 4:58 pm

Neat story about your dad standing up & defending Elvis in church. Seems like over the years many (though not all) in the church have put Elvis down. Hard for me to understand that because Elvis was all about love. And Jesus was all about love, so I think to myself, can't they see what's really important here? Guess it goes back to the 50's when Elvis was deemed as a bad influence by the older generation. He was just different--not bad, introduing a new sound & moving more with the music. He had rhythm!

It behooves one to sense God as dwelling within each of us, rather than as some distant entity, far above and seemingly beyond our reach.

This is a really sweet story personifying the magic of Elvis...and moreso, the effect, truth, love and sincerity can have on others when one simply radiates these qualities in their everyday life.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I was checking my favourite websites and this story I read and reread and tought this was so beautiful. I asked the permission to post it for you all.

It is printed on the following website

elvislightedcan.html

In my opinion this is a great Elvis dedicated website. It is more about the man behind the image.

It is a story which prooves Elvis loved Priscilla very much. There are a lot of stories from ignorant ones saying he did not love her, he did not want to marry her, well this conversation says it all...
Priscilla was the love of his live and sometimes I just wish she would say the same thing about him once in public...
They were beautiful together but things went wrong, we all know the sad end don't we. Such a shame that they couldn't work things out...

used to type replies to letters Elvis received-sometimes he'd call and dictate a reply if he wanted it done quickly. this conversation is a result of one of those times-he knew the tape was running. wanda)

Q; So what are you doing to get ready for that new baby? Building a new wing onto Graceland?
A: Naw-fixing rooms-nursery an all. Be with us at first-we got a little bed-basket kind of thing what do they call 'em? Bassinet is that it...it'll be beside the bed at first. Cilla got a little chest with a top that folds down so the baby can be changed easily ya know. She does all that-shows me pictures of things an' she picks out what she wants-but she asks me-hell, don't know bout that stuff. I'm learnin'-slow but it will be okay.
Q: Sounds like you'll do fine-you are learning, daddy.
A; God-can you believe it? So soon-man. Just got used to bein' called Mister-now daddy! Lord-my heart! (laughs)
Q: Yeah, next thing is gray hair- or baldness!
A; No! Don't even say it! Bald-not me, God, not me!
Tell you a secret tho' just 'tween us. I'd have lots of gray hair if didn't color it-no kiddin'! Daddy did when he was jus' 30 an' me too now.
Q: NO! Really, well guess it's soon all over-huh?
A: Hell no-goin' gray won't change anything. But have to dye all the roots more now-even my chest hair's gettin' gray in it! Now that is terrible-have to dye it too!
Q: No-you don't...
A; (Laughs) Gonna blow my image here-but I do-have for a while. Vain-I'm too vain! (Snickers) Cilla used water proof mascara and showed me how it'd work-so that was ok. But then she thought I shouldn't do it-she didn't like the girls thinkin' I had so much chest hair, silly huh?
Q: No, I can see her point being as you ARE him.
A; Oh gawd-I am him-huh? ( Laughs) No way 'round it, d**n it. Ah well-the perks are somethin' yeah.
Q: See THAT response is why she'd worry Elvis.
A: She knows I'm faithful as the sunrise (snickers) no one comes close to her man, no one not ever. An' that's a fact- she knows it too.
Q: You still look though...
A: Nothin' like before...lookin' is ok-it's touchin' that starts things- (Laughs) an I'm forbidden to touch!
Q: uh-huh...
A: Really, I am straight down the line married an' about to be a daddy! Gawd, nothin' else-not anymore.
Q: Yah the truth at last-off the hook is much less hassal-huh Elvis?
A; You got it sugar...whew...what a relief too...
Q: So when is the big day?
A: Some time in Feb. they say. Let's hope-or else I'm cooked!
Q: Oh yes, you might be at that...they come early sometimes.
A: Shhh...we don't want it to hear that! (laughs) Has to be then though...had to be the first day or so...it was so quick...I mean, you know she knew so fast an all.
Q: Did you do what you planned?
A: What...was it I planned?
Q: With roses and music and all of that...lights, remember?
A: (Giggles) Oh that-thought it was somethin' else- yeah, she was talkin' to her mother an while she was busy, got all the rose petals out-they were under the bed- an put them between the sheets and some from the doorway to the bed so she could walk on 'em. Then I covered up the bed so she'd find them when she turned it down. Then left my clothes layin' on the bed llike usual an' went in to change to you know. Man, then was when I got nervous...was shakin' even! Lord...me!
I mean fer gawd sake it hit me when I started to put on the pajamas she got me. I'm shakin like some kid an' even scared some...I mean god what if...well you know-could of happened! An' that'd be a d**n shame! (laughs) That's what I was thinkin' though-silly, but it's true. Here I am scared-but god for years been sayin' no to myself where she was concerned- 'n sex ya know an here it is an' I'm scared! (Giggles slightly then says lord lord)
Q: Sounds normal to me-she would have understood -we women do you know.
A: She might of but I did not know for sure-I mean been so close and I had my hands full many a time sayin' no to her-I'm so d**n glad I waited-just 'tween me 'n you honey, it was so special...so-so kinda like prayin' or something...and so-so much love...we do-I mean, we love each other so much...god so much between us. She was beautiful-oh lordy she was-her hair down an that little gown... it's no wonder we got pregnant. I waited so long for her I mean, 4 months is a long time...doin' what I do...ya know. (laughs)
Q: Four months...oh you mean the engagement.
A: Yeah I promised her-nothin'- you know. I'd wait for her-'n she tired to change my mind-not wait-you know, but d**n it I said no. Lots of cold showers 'n lots of runnin and karate and God knows I kept my word!
Q: (we both laugh he's so funny)
A; We sure didn't think we'd have a baby right away-didn't want her on the pill 'n then I'm alergic to most of that-that kind of stuff...I think in a few years they gonna find out the pill isn't so good for younger women after all. An' then there's stuff in rubbers too that's not good
for no body...'n guys like me...man, those d**n things are awfull -liked to itched to death first time used one of those d**n things! That was the last time too man...
Q: Good grief-you'd just tell me anything!
A: Oh sorry, I mean, guess that was kinda personal...
Q: yes-but it's not the first time...
A: Oh-anyway, (laughs) we were surprised. She knew it a month for she told me-wanted to be sure ya know.
Gawd I was stunned and so...I mean, lord-she was pregnant! And I did it!
Q: Oh good grief...
A: No... I mean in a good way, I was scared and so happy ...at the same time. Always wanted family, kids ya know-an' now a baby comin' it was...was kinda too much to to believe. Man, my whole life changed...just like that! (snapped his fingers)
Q: Who did you tell first?
A: Daddy -n then we both cried- then went to tell grandma and she 'n I went to to momma's grave at 2:AM and we told her there. I was so happy God, it felt so right. ( he sounded so sad, almost whispering)
Q: Well, things are good-you're on the way to that family Elvis-
A: yeah, (sighs) Just hope nothing goes wrong...pray for us please, will you?
Q: I will Elvis, for the three of you.
A: Thank you honey, ya know, this is 'bout the best year I've had in-in a while.... (laughs) d**n time too!

Riley, I hadn't been to that site since it added the forum. Love it!! Here's something everyone might enjoy, too:

A letter someone fished out of Priscilla's garbage around 1974. It was torn in half:

“So honey, I am going to see you real soon. I want you to be a good girl for Mommy, and do the things we talked about so she won't worry about you. I know you will try your best. That's all anybody can do sugar, so just have fun and try real hard in school, too. When I finish working this trip, I'll come by and get you. Honey, we'll go back to Memphis and have lots of fun. I can hardly wait until I can be with you my darling, it seems like a long time since last month to me. Guess what happened? I lost a tooth! And the tooth fairy didn't even come say she was sorry, either. You know the one that hurt when you were here last month. It just broke off when I was eating, and I almost ate it. Guess I could chew with my stomach then, huh? I got it fixed, they put a new tooth in for me and now its so white it blinds me when I look in the mirror. Before I forget - Get-Low (Elvis' Chow-Chow dog) says "Hello, and hurry up and play ball with me". He brings me the ball every evening and wags his body to play, but he'd rather play with his baby - you, darling. Me to - I want my baby girl to play with real bad. And sometimes this little daddy cries because his baby isn't here to kissy and cuddly with him. I love my baby girl very much. Here's a kissy and a huggy for her and now I'm going to beddy and dream of playing with my sweet Sue-Sue Yessa dolly. XXXX I'll call you when I get to Rhode Island, look at the list I gave you and you'll know what day I am in each city and when you can call me and where I'll be staying.

Bye, Bye
Your Daddy,
Elvis Presley”

Magic,

I also love that site. I can assure you you will read and read there is so much. Also very nice people. It is a true Elvis site, a hundred percent made with love and respect for him. If you are searching for real fresh and very "exclusive" stories this will be the place to find them.

I wish Priscilla herself would be more participating in her forum. Share some great and exclusive stories also about Elvis or little Lisa. Wouldn't that be nice. People would love to read her memories and would love her for that I'm sure.

Please Priscilla give us now and then a beautiful, sweet, funny or sad story about the years you were with Elvis.

But in fact I have four absolute favourites:

1. the site mentionned above (absolute number 1) Thanks Maia and Wanda June

2. the priscillapresleyforum, lots of good friends

3. simplycilla, the site and the forum both beautiful with unique pictures, thanks Misty

4. TBC not for the posts, not for the members (except for Franny of course but for the "BEAUTIFUL" pictures of Elvis which are daily renewed

END

That was it for now, hope I did a good work and

I will copie the reactions when they come in OK

Elvis posts

Postby Wanda June Hill » Mon May 01, 2006 11:31 pm

Thanks Riley, that was great - I hope others will be reading soon too. The book is about here- finally heard from the guy who said it's in "production" and in the next day or two I will be sent via computer a copy to go through and if it's okay-"they will knock some off". I sure hope so- Can't wait to see the cover! It's got to be so beautiful with the picture Maia designed and the color cobalt blue for the rest of the cover. I haven't a clue what they put about me on the jacket-or which picture they picked- they all looked about the same as the one on my opening page-with the family photo from 71 and the snapshot of me- I rarely EVER had my picture taken-hated it in fact. So it was darn lucky there were any pictures at all! I wish I could relive those years again.... I wouldn't do anything any different- except kidnap Elvis and keep him for a while so he could get some real rest and freedom. Wouldn't we all! wjh
