| Quote: | | I would truly appreciate that as am interested in what he had to say, his interpretations and his thoughts about not only about the Bible but spirituality and life in general | I would be very interested too!
With regard to the football, I had also read that Elvis tried out for high school football but got cornered in the locker room by a bunch of kids who were going to try & cut his then considered long hair. He was able to cut loose but never came back. Wanda, do you know if this story is a true one? _________________ Laurie

It was easy to do WR,E and I enjoyed doing Face to Face because I could relive everything again kind of-but working on Fairytale is not going to be a plesant experience but I'm going to attempt to make it very good, easier to read and informative about things that should be said for what and whomever wants to think about it all. What couldn't be told then can be now-so that will make it good-I will try to keep it from the man's point of view and to keep my opinions totally out of it-just tell the story as it was told the first time- And I don't think I'll change the language either-it's a man telling it and that's they way it should be kept...at least that's my personal opinion. Just hope I live long enough to get it done! So far so good-not going to worry about it at this point in time. It is so hot here and clouding up like it will rain but it won't, it will just tease and drop a few here and there and pass us by as usual. It is thundering so I have to shut down now. We live high and thank heaven we do have tall, tall trees close by to take the shock if we should get hit up here. Our horses are low and they have tall trees near too so they ought to be okay with their metal lids and corrals-it does worry me. But that's what the trees are for...to take the shock. Natural lightening rods....bye, wjh _________________ Wanda June Hill

Wishing you all the best with Fairytale too, Wanda! Hoping it will all go ok for you, a totally different issue really in a way I guess.
We keep getting storms here also, had one earlier while I was posting so had to shut down but all ok, wish there was a way of sending rain over to you, not much here either and storm doesn't clear the humidity for long! Have got one little kitten fast asleep on the table where I have my laptop as it's real cool and in the shade here, talk about cute! _________________ Seeks to encourage and inspire! |

Bringing the thread back round to the front so that any newer members can check out or anyone that may have missed out first time around - comments welcome. _________________ Seeks to encourage and inspire! |

I don't know if that story is totally true-however I do know that he was harrased about his long hair and wanting to play football and not cut it. There was a time that he was rescued by Red West who was also from Humes High school and happened by and saw the ruckus. He saved Elvis, they became friends and the rest of his life, he thought of Red as a brother more than a friend or employee. Red was in quite a few of the movies and went on to have some parts in other films and was a good actor. Elvis missed him the most after the book came out-he spoke of him saying, he wished they could talk again, about the told days but he guessed it could never be. He sounded so sad, lost and hurt but he mentioned Red by name and said he forgave him because he didn't know everything, I didn't tell him, he said he thinks he does, but I didn't tell him. Red so far has not joined in furthering the trashing of Elvis-I hope that he never will do that-his place in Elvis' life was there forever and Elvis would have brought him back as soon as he could have-I know that from the way he spoke of him and how much they had done together. He did not include the other two in any of those comments-only Red. I think Red knows that now and maybe appreciates the fact that Elvis cared deeply for him and his family-he just had to do what he had to do at the time-and were there more time, he would have brought them back into the family-where he said, "they belong with me". wjh _________________ Wanda June Hill

Wanda, wasn't the book enough trashing of Elvis by Red West and other two?..I think that book wasn't the right thing to do to a friend such as Elvis..knowing enough or not..sorry but Elvis's ability of forgiving, doesn't make them better people than they are.. _________________

Yes it was Zey, and it didn't make me think highly of Red not that I had thought of him much at all. I think he has been the only one of the three who felt badly for doing it and his releaseing of that conversation in which he "hoped to get some proof for what they were saying in the book" didn't offer much of that. Instead it showed a man who was hurting and trying to make amends for something that he felt had been done, that he couldn't do much about under the circumstances and that he didn't want to get into at that time with Red. He was trying to explain without telling much of anything and went on and on over the rachet ball court thing to cover for what he couldn't say. He found out what he wanted to know, he said what he had to say and that was it...
Red felt he was a "broken man" , I say Elvis was trying to reconnect with an old friend and when he discovered he couldn't go back, he shined it on with other things and then said what he wanted to say and that was it.
But I think he would have taken him back-had he lived.
It hurt him to hear he had to sell their house...I heard it and read it in his words... But Red didn't get it. He had too much on his plate at the time too. You're right, the book was trash enough. If it had been an arrow it wouldn't have pierced his heart as deeply as their words.

Wanda,
There are so good tales about Elvis in school, etc. in this thread that I think it would be so fine to have them written in a new book, with other parts of what he told you along the years. They are not taped, but after your two first books, I think your credibility will be stablished enough as to risk writing what you remember of what he told you. It must not desappear, it's too meaningful.

Yes, absolutely 100% agree, Amanda and Sarena! Too many wonderful conversations with Elvis; his thoughts, comments etc that they cannot disappear into a 'black hole'. As you say, Amanda, Wanda's credibility is more than enough established now to be able to risk writing what she remembers of what Elvis said to her.
Wouldn't it be great and totally amazing to read and hear more, WOW!!! _________________ Seeks to encourage and inspire! |
