That bracelet sounds really beautiful!, doesn't it? Think those mm guys and the Stanleys will have to live with what they did, they know what they were up to, karma may hopefully bring it back on 'em some day!

YOU KNOW BUT MAYBE NOT WITH ALL THAT WAS GOING ON THAT DAY, YOU WOULD THINK SOMEONE THAT CARED ENOUGH WOULD HAVE STAYED AT GRACELAND TO MAKE SURE THAT ELVIS'S JEWLERY AND THINGS WEREN'T TOUCHED! :x  I GUESS IT GOES BACK TO HOW JESUS WAS BETRADED BY JUDAS, WHEN HE SOLD JESUS FOR 30 PIECE'S OF SILVER. I KNOW I NEVER HEARD THAT ELVIS'S TCB RING HAD BEEN TAKEN, AND YOU CAN BET THAT WHO EVER HAS IT BETTER NOT LET LISA KNOW THEY HAVE IT! BUT ABOUT THAT BRACELET. WAS IT THE ONE THAT SAID CRAZY ON IT? THAT THE MM GAVE ELVIS BECUASE THAT WAS ELVIS'S NICKNAME THAT THE MM CALLED HIM, AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT I HAVE READ. FOR THE LOVE OF ELVIS!! BARB!

I DON'T HONESTLY THINK ANYONE DID THINK ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN AT THE TIME, MAYBE THEY DIDN'T CONCEIVE OF THE IDEA THAT ANYONE WOULD TAKE ANYTHING, WHO KNOWS? IN HINDSIGHT IT'S EASY TO SEE WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BUT JUST WASN'T THOUGHT AT BACK THEN.

DON'T FEEL ELVIS WOULD'VE CARED A LOT FOR THE ELVIS/JESUS COMPARISON EITHER? UNDERSTAND YOU DIDN'T MEAN IT QUITE THAT WAY BUT HMMMM! :?:

I WAS JUST USING JUDAS AS AN EXAMPLE, WHEN YOU THINK YOU HAVE LOYAL TRUSTED FRIENDS AND THEN YOU FIND OUT THEY ARE JUST AROUND YOU FOR THE MONEY AND GLORY FOR KNOWING YOU BECAUSE YOUR FAMOUS LIKE ELVIS WAS. BUT WHEN YOUR NOT AROUND ANYMORE THEY SALE YOUR THINGS AND EVEN THE FIRENDSHIP YOU SHOWED THEM. BARB!

I believe that it was exactly as he said it would be. "I'll be at home, with my firends 'n it will be all right." He said "God wasn't going to be mean to him, he'd be with his friends and everyting would be all right." And it was and he was and everything was all right. He had the white cars, his white suit and blue silk shirt, he looked "damn fine" as he said he would in his coffin'the bloat and pain gone from his face and body and his fans all came to see him-they didn't let him down -ever. He gave them one last show-that huge crowd, the train of white cars, the vast carpeting of flowers and the ceremony which he loved, pomp and circumstance etc; and he lay in state too...he said they'd all come to see him, and they did.
I think he was there, standing by, marveling at it all and feeling really good about it-but it must have bugged him alot that he couldn't get anyone to listen! I'm sure he had alot to say and no one listened! Ah well, not everything changed...they didnt listen much before either!
And I know he wanted to tell people hey, it's okay. I'm still here and I'm damn fine lookin' again! Look at me, damn it!" I know he was moved to tears too, by his guys struggling to keep it together, all the fans crying and carrying on, and his daddy and family. And Lisa, he must have spent his time with her for sure. It was something to see. He might as well have been American's King-they said he was and I believe it. wjh

Remembering Elvis

Postby 73smile » Sun Jan 06, 2008 9:27 pm

A week before we went to have Christmas at Jeff's I pulled out a DVD from The Little House on the Prairie series. It was a two-part episode called "Remember Me" that I have watched again and again. One thing that the character, played by Patricia Neal, told those who loved her and cared about her, as she was dying and trying to find homes for her children, was something like "Remember me with laughter but do not remember me with tears......or do not remember me at all." I may have a word wrong here or there but Landon's fine writing created scenes for characters who then played the scenes designed to evoke laughter/joy/happiness/forgiving another/trust/tears and so many other essential things to teach our children and ourselves. A parent or parents find that teaching values is made much less difficult when love for the child or for the children is always there.
I believe that Amanda starting this thread was a fine act. Thank you, Amanda.
I want to believe that Elvis was sent here for a reason and when the One above knew that Elvis' suffering was more than any human could or should withstand, HE came and he made sure that Elvis' mom and his brother were both there with HIM to help to guide Elvis home to a place where no more tears, no more regrets, no more darkness and no more sorrow exists.
Elvis did set aside his ego. He did not like how he looked and how he felt but he wanted to sing one more song, give one more scarf , touch one more hand before he said his final good-bye. Elvis loved his fans and I can still feel that love. I have never been fortunate enough to see the 1977 tape, which I know would make me cry, but I so much would like to see Elvis say good-bye to all of his fans who really were 'family' to him.
I do not know what happened on that day in August but I like to believe that he was aware of the need to surrender all of himself to the One above and that he had precious and healing love surrounding him BUT no more pain. Elvis is still drawing people to the One above through his music and until we are gone we will be sure that we are true fans until we too, must say good-bye.
I miss Elvis, a man I never met, but one who made my heart feel special when I watched him and still watch him sing the songs. He did set his ego aside and now we know how much pain he was enduring each day left here on earth. He did that so that he could be on a stage to give what he had left to his fans. He loved us and we still love him. I will try, as Patricia Neal's character spoke her words to those who loved her---and that is to try to remember with joy and love, but not with hurt-filled .tears because, as Neal's characte said: "I am no longer here suffering intense pain and sadness and so try to remember me with happiness and laughter and joy."
Love. Always with love to you Elvis---and thank you for sharing your generous heart and soul with us here on earth when you also were here

Very beautifully said, and it made me cry one more time because it is so true and so touching. I still haven't seen all of that tape, I just can't do it but one day maybe. It is hard to look at, though his voice is so beautiful when he sings some of the songs, and so heartrending on others. He sat down and played Unchained Melody and it was spell binding to hear it, he was so sick, so weak and yet that voice was not done yet.
He did set aside that ego, and I was astounded that he did that-it was so not something he would normally have done. Proof positive that he knew and he was willing to surrender even that for what he believed were his friends, those many people who always came to see him, never let him down and of whom he said, "Are my friends, maybe the only ones I have really, they never let me down." wjh

Namaste, friends,

I never read this thread before and just spent about fifteen minutes reading all of your wonderful insights, and getting all choked up. Just wanted to say that Elvis singing Unchained Melody is, I think, one of the most sublime happenings ever captured on television. Of course, much of what he did was sublime :) but the poignancy and beauty of this farewell, which he gave "in the shadow of the valley of death," giving every last ounce of his strength for his beloved fans, carries a spiritual message that to me is a living example of all the great teachings and scriptures. It's like he is literally laying down his life, expending himself, for the sake of his friends. "Greater love hath no man than this" runs through my head when I think of it.

Always a blessing to be able to talk with you.

Love,
Trish

a dream???????????????

Postby 73smile » Sun Feb 24, 2008 6:24 pm

I found myself waking this morning with images of Elvis at different ages clearly in my mind before I opened my eyes. I also felt as though something touched my cheek so lightly as though it had no weight at all. I think Elvis was that touch.
I have not been on ELC for awhile because of some things I am experiencing.
Maybe the touch that followed the very clearest 'view' of him smiling that smile that no one else has ever seen someone else have and standing near the area where the original Santa display was and is still displayed each year at Graceland, was to reassure me to "just believe" and all will be okay at the end.

Many thanks for sharing with us, Marjorie and I believe also Elvis was that touch you felt for sure! It's great to hear from you here, dear friend and Elvis would want to be close by you right now as you say you have been experiencing some things. He always seems nearest and closest when we need him most to be, you know?! :)

with Love, Sue
