ELVIS' GREATEST FEAR...

W: So, what is your greatest fear? One that pertains to your career...or future.

Elvis: "Well, eh-I'd have to say-my greatest fear- It wouldn't be to lose everything I have because I could begin again-might take me a while, but I could get it back. My greatest fear- would have to be to somehow lose the affection, the love of the fans. To somehow fall out of favor with them, be alienated from them. I'd have to say that would be my greatest fear...one I don't know if I-I could handle."

(Speaking of trying to get his career charged , the tv special and doing live shows again.)

Elvis: See, I started working live-bein' gone, busy you know? It was hard on me doin' that again, so much to think about and so many different people workin' for me. It was all new to them too, you know. We had to learn the hard way-and I was scared-afraid I'd fail, you know?
I worred 'bout it so much---it it made me sick to my stomach! And I couldn't-couldn't tell any body-Cilla had no idea she couldn't understand it anyway-she wasn't there then-and I couldn't explain it. Hell, there wasn't any way to explain it! It's ...it is somethin' you have to live through-if you haven't ever done it, been there in front of all those people, then there is no way to explain how it feels, the the fright and fears that come with it. Stage fright-man, I always experience it-ever time it's ---gawd it's like-like new in so many ways. Never know what to expect out there-different everywhere we go...to me-I feel it...I feel it man... and I love the feeling...when it-it-it's right...just don't want to leave...could go on til I dropped, I guess.... See, that's what I mean when I say I have to have people tell me to stop...time...is-is-just stopped for me out there...when it's good... Usually is-so I'm in a-a warp time mode maybe? (Laughs) Gawd, just love it! All of it... guess I'm eh...I-I got it bad for that audience!

Maybe surprising at first, but understable on a second thought.

Elvis HAD to reach to millions of people to fullfil his function in this reality. And he HAD to have the INNER URGENCY to accomplish that.

Understanding or not what it meant for him, he was scared to "fall out of favor with them, be alienated from them", because he would be "alienated" of himself and of his role in life.

Of course it was not a question of ego, but a question of being in close relationship his most inner impulses.

Right Amanda, it wasn't ego at all-it was his life out there-his purpose and he wouldn't have been able to handle losing their affections because that would mean giving up his life... and he didn't lose them-right to the end and beyond...thank heaven! wjh

Yes, Wanda.

And he put to stake all that is valuable for a common human being: family, friendship, private life, freedom, health, etc.

The fact that Elvis put so much at stake willingly and gave so much again and again just contributes to his character as a human being.

Wish he'd just been able to know and realise the love the fans knew for him during his life but believe he does now for certain now that he's safe and with his Lord and also family members too.

Nothing to "fear", Elvis. So, so many are still tunned to you... and growing in depth. Razz

Bless Elvis for his sweet charm and his complete loveability (not sure if this is a word, but with Elvis I've kind of always felt it's ok to make up new words, not technically true I guess, but ?!..... Rolling Eyes Wink Laughing ), sure do hope he knows now there was more chance of Rudolph's nose shining green than him falling out of favour with his loving, devoted fans!! Smile
