My favorite parts of the interveiw:

He was such a warm, wonderful, charismatic man. He did not talk about himself but was always interested in what you were doing.

He was a darling man, a real sweetheart, a southern gentleman. He really cared about other people. I remember him crying on my shoulder in the trailer during the funeral of Martin Luther King. He felt a real kinship with the black community due to his musical roots coming from black music. He was devastated and greatly saddened by Martin Luther King's death. He also sang Amazing Grace to me in the trailer, acappella. It was also sheer magic watching him jamming on the set.

I enjoyed it as well Sue. Thank you for posting. It's interesting how his co-stars whom he usually only saw for a short couple of weeks, and maybe some follow-up communication later, seemed to have a better understanding of Elvis than many of those who were around him nearly every day.

You are right, Blue Moon.

I think that, being Elvis such a complex person, with "outsiders" he put the best of himself, while at home the people around him saw so many differents moments of his behaving, his growing stages along the years, his up and downs, his varying moods, his fears, his playfulness, his unbalanced times... that maybe they lost the thread that united it all: the manifestation of an evolving person, searching for a fuller expression of his soul through a hazardous lifetime.
