I introduce myself

Postby Mydream » Sun Jun 10, 2007 3:13 am

Hi to everybody!!

I'm an italian big, very big Elvis fan and this is the first time I'm writing in this forum.

First of all, I beg your pardon if I don't speak English so well, but I only studied at school many years ago and improved trough my working life. That means it is really rudimental and I'll probably do lots of mistakes.  Sorry and thank you for your comprehension!!!

I've a big question:
Why, along 30 years, the closest people around Elvis never talk about his health problems?
Why they continue to insist talking only about his abuse of medications ?

As I love him so much, and as I'm 60 years old, I know very well all feelings and culture of such a generation, so I've a lot of comprehension on his mentality and conseuqnet behaviour. As my opinion, he was not bored, but only very tired, disapponted of all people around him, even sad and depressed for the lost of the most important women of his life, owing to his carreer and character    Then a strong blame feeling :?: :?:

What's your opinion? Am I really wrong? :?: :?: :?:

I thank you again for my bad english :P

Hello Mydream. We are so happy to have you! You are the first from Italy to grace our forum, which has already folks from many countries. It's amazing how after all these years Elvis can still bring people from all over the world together.

I think you bring up a good point here Mydream. Elvis took presp. drugs for real ailments & illnesses. Because these illnesses are not much discussed in the media, it makes it seem like Elvis was a druggie. Years ago, I think it served certain media interests for ratings sake to make it seem like Elvis was a druggie. And unfortunately the mud stuck & still sticks.

As you take the time to read through this forum, you will find that Wanda June Hill has written in detail in many posts about Elvis' ailments.
And Maia has also posted at length re Elvis' ailments on the main ELC web site.

I already read it, that's why I questioned.

I also think that he needed medications, but people don't believe it, mostly in Italy. They think all health problems were a consequence of his addiction

For me it's a little bit difficult to understand an English book, entirely, but I'd be curious to read the new Joe Esposito book, so I could understand when I really lied .... if yesterday or today :x

Hi there!

Welcome to ELC and great to have you here with us! Thanks for your thoughts and feedback. I'm glad you can understand and realise that Elvis required medication for his health conditions rather than just using them for 'recreation' and I hope that, in time, the likes of Wanda's book and others out there who would care to bring Elvis' positive and great characteristics forward into the world, will reach others who cannot or are not ready to see this as yet.

Best wishes, Sue

Hi there Mydream and allow me once again to welcome you to ELC! :D It is so good to see you posting so soon after your membership was activated!! :D You have asked some really good questions in your post and the best way that I can think of to answer them is to say that to the best of my knowledge(Wanda or Maia please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :) ) most of the people who were around Elvis didn't know about ALL of his health problems that he had. So to them it just looked like he was taking "alot of drugs" when in FACT he was only taking what he needed in order to survive. So consequently, and also sadly and unfortunately, those are the types of stories they started telling--that Elvis was "hooked on drugs" or a "drug addict". :( For them to say otherwise now---good heavens---that would mean that they would have to admit that they were WRONG and heaven forbid-- DIDN'T know about every last little thing that went on in Elvis's life.  Besides, as Elvis himself had said quite a few times, if people didn't know the truth about him, they just made up their own version of the truth. :( In any case, it is so GREAT to know that there are more people like yourself out there who recognize and understand what the TRUTH really is. :D It's great to have you here and thanks for such a good first post. :D
