In rereading page 41 of Wanda's WRE book, it was disheartening to read about the fabrications the MM helped to feed to Priscilla regarding Elvis' fidelity in the Vegas years. All kinds of rubbish was fed to her, through helpers, just so Priscilla would not want to come to Vegas because the MM didn't want her coming as she would bring along the MM's wives, ruining their "fun". And when the MM were having their wild times, no doubt cheating on their wives, Elvis was usually sleeping.

I mention all this because I wonder if any of the MM has ever admitted to having played a part in the break-up of Elvis' marriage. Clearly they were responsible in part, deliberatley lying and at other times assuming the worst about Elvis for their own selfish gain. Could the marriage have stood a chance w/o there having been such negative gossip spread to Priscilla?

Not to stir others emotions -people still alive that are the ones directly related with those circunstances- let me only comment Laurie, that what you signal has an basic lesson for us:

We all ought to be careful and considerate with our deeds, not to seed some negativity that could grow to proportions we have not control on and that may break harmony.

You've said it so well Amanda. One would hope that the MM were not at least deliberately trying to break up Elvis' marriage, though I've wondered about that too at times. We'll never know I suppose. Probably they've have had to wrestle with their consciences about their past behavior regardless. But I sometimes think, at least for some of them, it is too difficult to look into the mirror.

People that have difficulty looking their own faces into the mirror inspire compassion, because they don't have been able to find the best within themselves.

We must try to discover inside the beauty, the Light... that spark of God that makes us human. We must learn to live in peace with ourselves and to be our best company. Until then, we may deny all this in others.

So well put Amanda. If one can not see their own inner beauty, then how can he/she see it in others?

They were cheating too, encouraging Elvis by bringing women in to meet him, knowing that he and Pris were having problems, that Elvis wasn't happy and neither was she happy with him playing live, changing into someone she didn't know and then having to "compete" at home and whereever with all those other beautiful women who were free to do whatever they wanted- I don't think the guys realized nor did Elvis, at the time how much pay back would be coming on down the line.
They all lost their wives, had problems at home and it was their own creation-their own lack of loyalty to their wives/families and to Elvis as well. He depended on them, he had to there was no other way for him considering the popularity he was experiencing again. I have to laugh when these other entertainer guys start claiming they were as popular as he and they went out, they had lives etcf: and he could have too-blah-blah-blah.
They don't have a clue what it was like for him, not a clue. Noone really does, maybe Sinatra might have an inkling but none have come close since Elvis hit it big time-not once-but twice!...and it never ended...until he was gone... No one draws a crowd like he did-every single time he appeared publicly. EVERY time...even for those movies-he always had to have security to keep people back. Sometimes armies of them! wjh
