I believe the key to happiness is: someone to love, something to do, and something to look forward to. Elvis Presley

I Love that Song
I am not a wise man neither am I a fool
But what I am the way the good Lord made me
Though I need you more than you may ever understand
I can't wear a face that will betray me

Oh, If you're gonna love me, love the life I lead
Need the things I need, don't try to change me
If you're gonna take me, take me for what I am
I can't be another man, I can't be free
'Cos The life I lead is the life I lead

Money in my pocket never seems to last too long
I've gambled on the way and drowned my sorrows
Though God knows I can't pretend it's better on my own
I can't promise you a new tomorrow

Oh, If you're gonna love me, love the life I lead
Need the things I need, don't try to change me
If you're gonna take me, take me for what I am
I can't be another man, I can't be free
'Cos The life I lead is the life I lead

I always thought that song was for Priscilla but according to the video it was recorded before they divorced so maybe not.

I could not tell you for sure, ReGina-Jewel but possibly Wanda J could confirm or clarify?.....

I feel that some songs were sung for Priscilla however, Separate Ways in On Tour and It's Over from Aloha concert certainly seem to have been!

lots of songs could have been for Pris.
But since elvis did not write the lyrics himself I think it was often coincidence

Song Reflective of Elvis's Life

Postby Wanda Mc » Tue Sep 25, 2007 11:35 pm

The first time I heard this song, I thought it was highly reflective of Elvis. He did have a totally unique life that he couldn't change and probably didn't want to. As Wanda JH has said before, he loved his life and being Elvis. So anyone who wanted to "take him," had to take him as he was and not try to change him. That was his life, so if you wanted to be in it, you had to accept that.

As for money not lasting long in his pocket, it sounds like that was true, too! What good was money if you couldn't spend it to make yourself and others happy? And it sounds like he spent more of it on others than himself.

Elvis liked lyrics that reflected his thoughts, said something he thought or felt and that one was most likely something he felt at that paticular time. He and Pris had problems all through their relationship and after the marriage as well...so...and I guess she didn't want him doing live shows again, she was afraid I think of losing him and so it happened. Sometimes I think people do the things they fear the most, maybe not realizing it at the time, but they bring it about by their own fears and actions regarding them. Kind of werid, but I've seen it happen. He sure couldn't change his life-had he wanted to do it as there were too many involved, too much money and too many responsibilities. It would have been a slow process had he tried and I believe he would have had he managed to get healthy in time to do it. I think he did what he was supposed to and then it was time for him to go. And as his horoscope said-he is bigger now than he was when alive-and it just keeps on growing. Thank God! wjh

Yes Wanda people usually dwell on their fears and if they dwell too much then the worst does happen.. when ur holding onto something SO Very hard suddenly you just cant anymore and you'll have to let go.. from the pictures of Priscilla after Elvis' death i see lots of sadness i have always believed that she implodes and never really the sharing type... i read somewhere that when Elvis would go away for long times she would sit alone for hours crying I feel really bad for her!!I know I wouldnt have done any better myself :?
