Darrin Lee - Elvis concert Myths

Postby maia » Fri Nov 03, 2006 4:46 pm

I wrote to Darrin complimenting him on his website - ELVIS CONCERT MYTHS - http://www.elvisconcertmyths.com

I received the following reply:

Dear Maia,

It's good to hear from you as I'm a big admirer of your work in 'Strictly Elvis', especially the January 1975 issue. Your article on Elvis' Karate Dialogue is the BEST on the subject - ever. You are not only perceptive, but a talented writer.

I have always wondered what concerts you attended during August and September 1974 and if you were there on Closing Night [Desert Storm] when Elvis addressed the drug rumors? If you were, your knowledge would have a major impact on my efforts to discover the truth.

A few months ago, I spent many hours on your website and corresponded with Ms. Hill prior to the release of We Remember, Elvis'. I ordered a copy this morning from Amazon.com and sincerely look forward to reading
it.

For quite awhile, your banner was on my ElvisConcertMyths.com "Favourite Links" page but somewhere along the line, it got accidentally deleted. I've added it once again as what you and Ms. Hill have to say should be heard.

Once I read the book, I'll place a jpeg of the cover and some comments on my website. By the way, Ginette is a sincere fan and truly cares about Elvis' memory...kinda rare these days!

Best regards,
Darrin

I wrote Darrin back, saying that I was at a 1974 concert in Vegas at which Elvis discussed the drug rumors, but didn't remember if it was the closing concert. I remember him pacing the stage as he spoke and he was quite angry, but controlled.

I didn't know that was the one who was THE Darrin fellow. Wow, I thought it was a lady I was talking to-oh well, wouldn't have been any different had I known any way. Seems like a nice person. Thanks for posting that Maia. wjh

Darrin put the below on his site. Quite moving to read. It's obvious Lisa Marie was referring to her father.

the lyrics from Lisa’s song, ‘Nobody Noticed It’, reveal her feelings about the lies that have been told:

“And I wanted you to know that I haven’t forgotten
When they try to make you look broken
Not while I’m livin’
You’re still lovely
You were lovely then
All that you had to endure
I guess nobody noticed it.”
Laurie

It behooves one to sense God as dwelling within each of us, rather than as some distant entity, far above and seemingly beyond our reach.

Thanks for sharing this with us, Maia and Ginette about Darrin, he certainly sounds like someone who is truly and genuinely trying to bring the truth about Elvis (as portrayed in Wanda's book), the good and positive about him into the open as much as he can also; along with you ladies and all of us here at ELC, such as this gentleman needs encouragement and any assistance that can be offered to him!
