Wanda I have read how alot of people said that Elvis was TEN TIMES MORE! Handsome in Person, and that Picture's didn't do him Justice. So I thought since you had been so Blessed in seeing Elvis if this is True? Barb

talking-and talking

Postby Wanda June Hill on Sun Mar 26, 2006 7:18 pm

Hi,

I'm always happy to hear that other people who were around Elvis personally long enough to actually know something about him (even those who were with him 24-7 according to them didn't know or see as much of the real guy-guess the BS, smoke and etc: got in their way) start talking. I've found out that the Elvis we knew and loved was "alive and well" if people just took a good look, listened and waited for him to talk. And talk he would-sometimes it took some gentle prodding but he did like to talk to people, just didn't get much of a chance. If you watch his movies-everytime he is driving off with someone in a scene, or riding with someone and isn't being closeup-ed or anything, you will see him flapping his lips away at them-he'll be talking up a storm because he has the chance! It's funny to see and still a little sad to think he had to "find opportunies" for simi-private or private conversations. He had some carpet work done in one of his houses-the carpet layer's drinking water delivery guy was helping him lay the carpet on an off day and he said Elvis helped them and talked and talked-wjh

I can tell you with certainty that he was MUCH better looking in person!

I was nose-to-nose with him when he kissed me from the stage on several occasions. You just wanted to DRINK him in with your eyes.

He also "glowed"...and I don't mean his aura, but there was a glow coming out of his skin. I know that sounds far-out, but that is how he appeared to me.

Good looking dude

Hi Barb,

Actually he was....more than handsome-as Maia said, he did glow...and his hair was so silky soft-fine but not flyaway fine and he kept it a long time before it started to thin out when he wasn't well. He said "Gawd-ma hair is fallin' out!" in a hushed kind of "oh no" voice one day when he found quite a few hairs on his pillow! I remember I said, "Yeah, we all shed in the spring-we are mamuals, you know" And he said, oh that's right..." and he stopped worrying just like that! He said when he was in Germany he went to a doctor because he broke out in "some kind of rash" (he was allergic to the soap the cleaners used on his clothing) and that doctor told him about some kind of "youth drug" everyone was taking so he got some-it made his hair grow faster and thicker and he said, "I even grew about an inch and 1/2 taller too!" as if he wouldn't have naturally-he was only 22 when he went in for heavn sake...boys/men do grow until they are about 25 or so-some take longer! Anyway, he said the "youth drug" worked and he took it until he was about 31 then he found out it wasn't all that good for his "insides"-whatever that meant. Getting back to his looks-I don't think I ever saw any man who looked as good as he did-even when he was dirty and working on his motorcycle and had grease on his face! He was better looking then! And his eyes were so deep and sometimes so blue and other times with green and some black flecks in them. I have to say I never did see any body else with everything all in one place. He had it all-and his facial bones were so perfectly placed-matched up on both sides. If his grin hadn't been off just a tad, he wouldn't have had that grin or smile though. So even that was a plus. What I liked most were his lips-the bottom one with that little scar that made it look fuller-he said he got hit in the mouth, chipped off his front teeth and they were capped when he got into "show biz". His lip was split at the time and that little bump sure made that lip nice! I had two real kisses from him-I speak of them both in the book-the first time was a total surprise, I didn't know him very well and I think it was a "test"-whatever he scared me silly. The second time it was kind of funny, because we sort of set each other up for it and I think he was as nervous as I was by then...they were about 9 years apart and totally different in every way. Besides his cologne, I remember how his lip would curl up slightly showing those teeth and he shut his eyes just before he kissed me. He had strong lips-from singing and he certainly knew how to use them. He told me that he liked kissing, liked girls who enjoyed being close and just cuddling and kissing alot. Then of course, macho stepped in and said, "But what follows that is my favorite... Just like to have plenty of time an' work up to it...if somethin's good, why rush it?" As far as looks-Elvis was that-and he had beautiful hands-sometimes in his films there were someone else's hands in a few scenes and those hands were so ugly compared to Elvis' that were almost delicate of skin and form though they were strong, masculine and he had long, artistic tapered fingers and tips. And he had scars here and there-he was rough and tumble at any physical game he played and had the bruises to prove it. His eyes were very impelling in that he seemed to gaze into your soul. I admit that I could barely take my eyes off him any time I saw him-even on stage. And the last time-it was embarassing and I still couldn't not look at him. He even commented on it and my eyes said, so what and kept looking! I hadn't seen him alone in years that close-I just could not make myself not want to look at him. What's worse, I didn't care! Not like me at all...and he was so sweet and understanding and I think he even liked it-he was always trying to make me lose my cool or blush or scare me-and this time, I was mesmerised. I wish I could do it all again-only to borrow his style...the next time dammit, I would knock the stupid boys who told me "he doesn't want to see you" out, step over their bodies and go up to see him anyway! And I probably would find a way to steal him right out from under their noses-and take him someplace were he could be free-at least for a while but then he'd have to go back-there would be a show to do-and he'd be like a race horse waiting to hit the track! As he said, but that's hindsight...anyway, yes, Barb, he was better looking than in pictures-even better looking than he was in "Change of Habit" and that other film that was almost 1/2 over before he came on camera. I loved the close ups in both those movies-that director knew what we wanted to see-that face-up close on that big screen! In person, Elvis was pretty-he'd hate that, but he was-he didn't have much hair on his arms, just enough and it was blondish brown, he was not hairy all over his body-just his chest and it was moderate and light brown until he got older. Oh, I have to tell you guys this, I believe him too-he said he had a little brush that he used to "dye" his chest hair darker because it didn't show up and "women like to see that...ya know." Then he said, they do, don't they? In this unsure questioning voice. I said, well, sure we do-as long as it's not matted up and growing all over the guy like burmuda grass...and he liked to died laughing...he said something I never did figure out-but it was on the line of matted up like a shag rug-only what he said must have been "dirty" he just wouldn't repeat it again. oh well, enough of that.wjh
