NING questions

Postby Blue Moon on Wed Nov 21, 2007 4:05 pm

I tried repeated to replace my Ning avatar picture. I select another picture, a jpeg, press "done"; the yellow "new" shows & then I press "save". It then reads account settings have changed. But the new picture never shows. Does the picture have to be a certain size for it to take?

Also, how does one invite another member to be a friend? The "invite" will only allow me to invite non members.

Thanks Maia for your help.

Hi Laurie - I already addressed the first question about photo size with you, so will go to the second. That "Invite" you are clicking it to invite people to become MEMBERS - not "friends." Look on the LEFT panel on the page of the person you wish to invite as a friend. It will say "invite as friend" (or something like that).

Maia, I read your instructions above and also on the main candlelight ning page, but I do not see an "invite as friend" on my computer when I look below the member's profile image. I see the "share" but no "invite as friend". Perhaps my older browser is not able to pick it up. I can accept invitations is seems but not send out any to other members.

I also wanted to ask you how to delete or edit a comment. I wanted to correct a mistake I made but could not find a way to edit or delete. I tried pressing the red "X" at the bottom of the comment, several times actually, but it would not delete. So I wonder if I am doing something wrong, or if this is situation where my browser will not allow me to delete.

I sent you a private message on CANDLELIGHT about this. :)

I ALSO ADDED IT TO THE "HOW TO" DOCUMENT.

Maia, I clicked on the link but could not find the private message. I can tell you that I was signed in then, and was also signed in when I was trying to find the invite members as friends link, as well as when I was unsuccessfully trying to delete a comment. So my thinking is that my browser is not completely compatible with Ning.

Yes, I think you may be RIGHT - your computer is just not "computing" - maybe need to update your browser? Have you tried FIREFOX? It's free and you can have it AND Explorer. I don't care for Firefox as much as Explorer, so leave Explorer as my "default" browser, but Firefox will sometimes get you where Explorer won't!

As I stated on another post, Wanda is having trouble even accessing the Ning site!
