So very sad to read but comforting in a way to know he was accepting and at peace with his fate. The attributes he possessed constantly astound me - he faced his challenge head on and yet took the time to comfort those he would leave behind........I doubt that others in his situation would have handled it with as much courage and grace.

I share everything you say above, Vera. But I would like to add my heartfelt impression that Elvis was aiming also for leaving behind him "clean" loveful golden channels of communication, making at the same time peace and justice with the past. To me, he was making a work of LOVE in a profound sense.

I wonder what he wrote and left for his Lisa to come across when she was older-knowing him, he must have. He said he kept a "diary of sorts", just things he wanted to remember and that he liked and thought he said, nothing special. He told me that the Col. had told him to keep things written down, to put his days on paper and thoughts etc: and that it would help him as he "grew"-I have a hard time thinking the Col. actually thought that-but maybe there was a heart in there somewhere at times coming forth? Or he might have been thinking of the $$ such things could bring in later on down the road? Whatever, Elvis said he did do that and I sure would like to see all of that! Could be some day it will be a book that he was able to write after all, himself. wjh

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a book that he had written. What insight it would give into this wonderful person though those of us here know just how special he is because of you Wanda, Maia, JoAnna and all of the members. (Though I think this group comfirmed what most of us felt for many years)
