I know what it is like to walk on a winter evening with the merry Christmas lights directing me along the way, and soft snowflakes lightly touching my face making not a single sound; and as I look up at the beautiful stars I know that the One above is there and so is Elvis.
I have experienced lots of evening walks beginning from when I was a child, then becoming a teen, and finally as a wife and a mom and more recently as a grandma. The stars in the sky, the decorations on houses and the magical feeling of surprises in the air continue to make a walk on such a night with feelings of peace in my heart a happy walk; and also the hope for peace for all of us who share this earth in this time, is the very best part of a winter night in Michigan as 2007 creeps closer and closer to ending.
I am thankful for so much and I worry about those who have so very little knowing they are cold and hungry and can not find comfort from the falling snow and the pretty lights as they huddle together trying only to survive.
We do what we can to help as do millions and millions of others around the world. We just wish we could have a magical wand to wipe poverty from the face of the earth and that no matter what one believes or does not believe that diverse beliefs are respected by all.
I have no doubt that Elvis brought me to ELC because he knows what beauty for the soul would be found for me here. Thank you very much dear Elvis. You knew what you were doing---because at ELC there is sharing, support and boundless amounts of hope just waiting for those who know that it is only with love and support that we can find hope and peace.
