Wanda, I can totally understand your anger. Even though I of course didn´t know Elvis personally, and even though I´m tremendously biased, there is not much solid evidence that he was the bad person he´s turned into by some people. The way I see it it´s by those who for some reasons see themselves as "victims", or who felt he treated them unfairly, who are still jealous of him and frustrated about their own lives, who are totally self-centered and hungry for any kind of attention.
There are too many people who tell entirely different stories about Elvis, without wearing rose-colored glasses, but looking beyond the facade that he built up around himself for protection and the image that was forced upon him by the industry. This facade/his image had of course nasty sides to it, but I´m sure he suffered the most from it at times and ultimately payed a high price.
Please correct me if I´m wrong, but I think Elvis was taken advantage of in life and is still exploited in death.
I wouldn´t have been so patient with all those people, but had told them to get a life! Elvis cared too much about everyone.
Consider me a mean flying mother dragon, too!
VERY well put dear Ingrid and I agree with everything you said here. This sweet man was DEFINITELY taken advantage of in life when he had to actually watch it go on, and sadly STILL being taken advantage of and exploited even after his death and now unable to do anything about it.
