Wanda, I can totally understand your anger. Even though I of course didnīt know Elvis personally, and even though Iīm tremendously biased , there is not much solid evidence that he was the bad person heīs turned into by some people. The way I see it itīs by those who for some reasons see themselves as "victims", or who felt he treated them unfairly, who are still jealous of him and frustrated about their own lives, who are totally self-centered and hungry for any kind of attention.
There are too many people who tell entirely different stories about Elvis, without wearing rose-colored glasses, but looking beyond the facade that he built up around himself for protection and the image that was forced upon him by the industry. This facade/his image had of course nasty sides to it, but Iīm sure he suffered the most from it at times and ultimately payed a high price.
Please correct me if Iīm wrong, but I think Elvis was taken advantage of in life and is still exploited in death.
I wouldnīt have been so patient with all those people, but had told them to get a life! Elvis cared too much about everyone.
Consider me a mean flying mother dragon, too! |
VERY well put dear Ingrid and I agree with everything you said here. This sweet man was DEFINITELY taken advantage of in life when he had to actually watch it go on, and sadly STILL being taken advantage of and exploited even after his death and now unable to do anything about it. Honestly, I don't know which one is worse, but both are infuriating and heartbreaking!!! Sweet Wanda your anger is most definitely completely understandable hon and if you need or want help with that "neck wringing" just let me know!! |

Funny comment about the neck-wringing there, Mari.
I agree that it's really hard to understand how Elvis's friends could have been so totally blind to so much of the beauty of his personality. I know he met those guys at their level, he did his part to "cross the bridge" and relate to them on their terms...but it never occurred to them to return the favor? And I don't think he was hiding himself from them- Jerry Schilling managed to get a good view of Elvis's sensitivity, so why couldn't the rest of them?
I think Sonny West, minus his horrid stunt with Elvis What Happened, seems to have a rather likable personality. But it still shocks me (I'm naive like you, Wanda ) that he wrote yet another biography, claiming that the purpose of this one was to emphasize all the "good times" he had with Elvis, and then he proceeds to lay out every little skeleton in Elvis's closet...AGAIN!!!
I agree with you, Ingrid, too... I guess Elvis was just too loyal for his own good. |

Well first of all I was going to do some Ranting and Raving about what Wanda told about what was said Once Again, about Elvis. But I took some time to think about this, and I want to say that to me if Elvis was this Person that " THEY " said he was, then Why is there so many Other Books like Wanda's that say Compeletly Different? I think to me " THEY " know what Wanda and so many others have said about Elvis is the Truth, but they have said this same OLD STUFF so Long and it is Killing them to know. That " THEY ' have had their Blinders on for so many Years and their Minds on their own Selfishness, that " THEY' won't Admit " THEY " are WRONG! I would have liked for them to have Lived and were Brought up in ' THE GETTOE " like Elvis was in The South that didn't know where their next Meal was coming from. I would have Like for " THEY " to have been in Elvis's Shoes, and to have seen if " THEY " could have " COPED " with want Elvis had to " COPE " with. Elvis was a HUMAN BEING! FLESH AND BLOOD! and he did want he had to do, and I'm trying very hard to have Compassion for these People and to FORGIVE,and PRAY for them. Because I know thats what the Lord and Elvis would do and what They Expect me to do. FairyTale _________________ HOTT DAWG! - FairyTale!

You're right in so very many ways, dear Fairytale but oh Lordy, easier said than to do though! I freely admit Elvis had a better and more beautiful spirit than I could ever dare to admit to having! Jerry Schilling I'm ok with and Charlie when he was with us of the group of guys around Elvis I'm talking of here but I have to say, forget about the majority of 'em for me, so many books and so much 'bad-ass' talk (excuse me!) about Elvis!
Nope, I wouldn't even give 'em the time of day and certainly wouldn't trust 'em as far as I could throw 'em, that's for sure! _________________ Seeks to encourage and inspire! |
