A new Blessing

Postby 73smile » Sun May 04, 2008 2:55 pm

I believe we have had a blessing bestowed upon us that I would like to share with all of my ELC family. :)
On May the 2nd we attended Walter's retirement dinner. It was a wonderful evening put on by the social science department at the community college he will be leaving after 40 years of teaching. That is meaningful but the best is to come...
Walter's latest cancer test results reveal the treatment is now working!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are thrilled that he is outside and feels able to be cutting the grass on an almost warm day in Michigan.
We know this does not mean he is a 100% out of the so-called 'woods' BUT it is the most positive result yet.............
I want to thank each of you who took a minute to include him in your prayers because he feels better, he looks better and he is so much more positive about what are called the 'resting' years that come after retiriement.
We shall celebrate again on Friday before and after he leads the professors in during graduation for those getting degrees at the college.
Somehow I WILL be on that floor and I will take personal pictures as he walks in ahead of all of the professors. I will send them to Zey and I hope Zey will not mind putting a couple up for me.
It has been a year filled with highs and with lows but this is certainly a high. Thank you all for the love, for the peace and the faith you have helped me to keep---even when the days felt so very, very dark that I could not see much light. You are a loving family and I am proud to call each and every single ELC member my family!!!
I know the One above does hear and he does see and it is him to decide what happens and I am happy that when I am looking up at the stars that night that he will allow our Elvis to be the brighest star in the entire sky. :D
Love,
Marjorie

A quote

Postby 73smile » Fri May 09, 2008 12:27 pm

" Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." Dr. M.L. King.
In our family we CHOOSE not to be silent. When anyone here needs us we have and we will always, always be here for each other. ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, Zey, you are so love filled. I appreciate your putting the photos up. Once commencement ends tonight I will have a photo of the professor called Radike leading all college professors in. It has been a busy 2 weeks but I know all of it has made Walter happy.
He was so amazed last Friday night that so many people attended just because he was retiring. He was so filled with positive spirit he experienced in that room for him that when we arrived home he went to bed after a bit. Then he got back up at 1:ish and could not sleep because so many had said so much and all genuine. Anyone could talk and so many did---even me---because I wanted everyone to know how proud I was that he was trusted, loved and respected by his wife, too. Our son and our daughter both spoke, too.
Elizabeth, our daughter----in the photo will her husband who is much taller than she, ending by hugging her dad and telling him aloud how proud she was to be his daughetr and how much she loved him.
That is when his eyes welled with tears.
I am thankful to all of you and to the One above who makes it all possible, and he gave Walter a very special evening...indeed.
I have to get off here to search for something I can not remember where I put!!
I love you all and I will send the photo tonight or tomorrow to Zey.
Thank you all so very, very much for praying for him. I carry you all in my heart each day.
Always with love,
Marjorie
