When Elvis first started calling me, I worked at a drive-thru Photo Mat (while I was trying to break into modeling/acting. When he would call me at work, I would put up an "Out to Lunch" sign and sit on the floor & we would talk for hours. After a few days of this, Elvis asked me if the place ever had any customers. I fessed up & told him what I'd been doing (I was so afraid if I told him to hold on, he'd hang up and say he'd call later). He laughed at me & told me the place was going to go out of business. He said that if I had a customer, to tell him & "Ah'll hold on honey". And he did, every time. I couldn't believe it, Elvis Presley was on hold, waiting for me to come back.

There were a few times that he would call me early in the am because he knew Jimmie was up and gone to work early. And Elvis would tell me "let me know when it's about 7 'cause I got to make a call." One day he said that his watch wasn't keeping time because he "messed them up" due to his magnetic field/chemistry of his body etc: and of course explained in great detail about how that all worked and how everyone's different and sometimes we repell each other and that's why we can't "stand" this one or that one-etc: and on and on until I said, "Elvis, you have make that call." And he sucked in his breath to say, "What time is it?" in an alarmed tone of voice then say, "I gotta go, bye-bye. later baby." and I'd
have to laugh over his totally focused discourse about electro magnetic fields and human animals and all animals he added..."even some chickens don't like each other for that reason etc:" and on and on. But he was right-of...course... Then I find out he was "killing time with me until he could call Joanna.... baaaad boy! Hee-hee...I think he really did enjoy talking to her, making her laugh and above all, "teaching her" about the big world out there in "radio/tv/movie land". Warning her of the dangers for little girls like her etc:... (on and on and on no doubt). That was our boy. Sweetie is right.
Oh he did say one time that he hoped she would be okay and not get hurt feelings over something or other she was going to do, and I said something along the line, she could probably handle herself quite well-after all, she's dealing with you-and aren't you the master of them all? He didn't think it was funny and that was even more funny to me-I laughed and he wasn't laughing but then he came around and snickered a little too. I didn't know he was becoming attached as he was, after all he was an "old guy" as he said, compared to "that sweet little thing" and that was about the most personally felt statement from him about her to me. I knew he liked her, liked to tease and laugh with her and that he thought she was smart and beautiful but I didn't realize that he had wanted to take it further until much later on.
By then he wasn't feeling good at all; she made him feel better he said, and one thing that touched me, she gave him hope. I didn't realize that hope was something that he needed right then more than anything, hope for a future, to be well and himself again. I was proud of her for being able to do that for him in that critical time in his life. wjh

Thank you all for your kind words. Wanda, what you wrote brought tears to my eyes and a smile in my heart. There were many times when I was feeling blue, that Elvis gave me hope, too. Or made me giggle so hard I forgot any sadness I was feeling. Wanda, you are a wonderful friend, thank you.

I just read the adorable stories her for the first time- I'm kind of choked up. Wanda you conveyed the depth of Elvis's love so clearly. Also his very brilliant, quirky mind...wish I could've heard more about how even the chickens are attracted and repelled by magnetic energy. And I love how he could also hop out of his deep conversation instantly.
Joanna, I'm so happy for you that you had that connection with him. I loved your cute story and I'm happy he would stay on hold for you.
Thank you both for being here!!!

Thank you for bringing this thread back, Wanda.
The way JoAnna and you, make Elvis-the human Being reachable for the rest of people that are interested in him this way, has no price!
It's simply wonderful to watch his patient, sweet, loving and humble ways.. and sometimes, in contrast, to see appear, probably coming from a remote hurt little kid's ego, impatience, trends of dominance or possessiveness... Everything so much in accord with our TRUE ESSENTIAL NATURE (that he expressed so well) and the "outer" personality we all are capable to build, out from the relationship we develop from childhood with our surroundings and that is ONLY a vehicle for us.
The more we might recognize and trust our TRUE ESSENTIAL NATURE, and the less we identificate with our personality, the better we shall express LOVE.
