This is a snippet of conversation from way back there-

Wanda: You're outside?
Yeah-I was lookin' at the sky-watchin' the sun take over the stars early an' listenin' to Memphis wakin' up. Don't hear the steam boats anymore-not many on the river, an' too, there is too much traffic. Goddd, I hate the traffic-we first moved here it was out in the country-quiet and pleasant. I wish I'd never sold that land...

W: Why did you?
Daddy thought we'd be smart to do it as we were payin' taxes on it, an' they raised them, you know, so when they made us an offer he took it. He didn't think they'd build so fast-but man, it's awful! Can't do nothin' now for the noise an' people. An' they even tried to make me get rid of my horses! Can you picture that? The goddamn nerve of 'em! I lived here first by damn-an' they tried to say my horses draw flies an' stink! Got a court order 'n everything! (he spewed angrily)
W. So...what did you do?
Went down an' talked to the judge an' he saw my side of it, wouldn't accept it in court. Then I found out where they had their mortages an' I bought 'em! Now, they pay ME for their houses! An' I'm holdin' the bag! (laughs
dirtily)
W: You are mean! That was smart, didn't know that could be done.
You know now! 'n you got the money an' the power behind you, there isn't anything you can't do-buy or ruin, baby! 'member that!
W: I will. You have...all that power-huh?
Damn right! An' if I don't-I know where to go 'n get more of it---and I did. Wouldn't hurt innocent people, but they had no right to try that on me! By damn, this is my house, my land an' what I do is my business. I moved my cattle 'cause there wasn't enough room here, an' I figured it would be an eyesore if they trampled ever thing down. So I moved 'em-but my horses are stayin' where I can see 'em, ride 'em an' enjoy them. Nobody is gonna change that. It's a fact!
W: Is it true you found the cattle at a slaughter house holding pen and bought them to save their lives?
Now...where'd you hear that?
W: I have ears....eyes...isn't that your line?
(Laughs) okay, I'm a a softie at times. They was lookin' at me with those big brown eyes 'n some of them looked so sad...besides there's enough hamburger out there-an' didn't need to send them up that ramp. Gawd...you ever see it? Man, you can feel it 'fore you get up there...just had to do somethin' -with 'em looking at me like that...wasn't but a few, they sure were happy gettin' off the truck here...but gawd, talk about stink! I was glad to find another place for them, they'll live out their lives an' do what cows do-'n it's a good thing.
W: Like the dog pound-huh?
(Laughs) Guess so...good thing if I don't go near those places...daddy'd kick my ass...from here to Sunday!

PostPosted: Thu Mar 16, 2006 7:05 pm
I Love Elvis for the Love he had for Animals, He sounds So Cute when he talks about doing things he knows his Daddy wouldn't approve of  . You know Wanda it is probaly a very good thing that Vernon keep the Money. Because Elvis was never the one to worry about Money, and the way he talked about those Cattle Lord knows if Elvis could have done it and he could have spent his Money like he wanted to, He probaly would have turned Graceland into a place for unwanted Animals of every kind. But God How I Love Him and O How I Miss Him!! Barb

Hey, thanks for appreciating-I am searching through things and finding things I had forgotten but thought you all would enjoy them as I did rereading some of it. I too, became a nearly non meat eater-I eat chicken some-that's it. I used to walk by the meat counters and feel horrible and didn't know why, I mean, I grew up on a farm, we butchered but they were killed fast and never knew what hit them-unlike today's processing plants. I didn't know what it was about the meat until I started learning about the cruelty etc: and when I quit eating it, I felt so much better. My husband Jimmie still likes meat sometimes, and I will fix a few things, but mostly he has to eat out to get it. And I'm a big stray animal person-used to do rescue work and still do sometimes. But I do not want any more to come here-thoughts are things, so I won't even go there!

Animals are my biggest thing really, always had them around me and it's lonely and "dead" in our house when we don't have any. I used to raise parakeets and cockatiels too-used to raise one good batch of young birds a year-that way their colors were beautifull and deep and the birds were big sized. I had just one pet shop I would sell them to-because they took good care of their birds and other animals-I checked. And then that money would take us to Vegas to see-Elvis! He paid our way the first time he played there-there was 14 of us who went and we had a full table in what Elvis said was the best location for a good view of the stage-it was too. We were stage level but not in front of it-two rows of booths and tables from the stage. It was great, but not as good as right at the stage-then you could see that face, those eyes and he often would spit on you when he sang-of course that wasn't the greatest but you knew you were close! He didn't mean to do it-but singers do that-and after all, it was HIM. Still, it kind of bothered me the first time-when I realized what it was!
I have the napkin he gave me, he came over, another lady was handing it to him and he wiped his chest with it and then handed it to me. I really didn't want it but the look on his face was too much-I took it and handed him mine to give to her and he did. Of course, it's never been washed and it's pretty creepy looking now but it's in our safe! He got such a kick out of doing that and giving it to me-like a mean little boy. Wjh

I remember the story about Elvis shortly after he moved to Graceland, when his Mom said she missed her chickens. So Elvis went out and go her some...put them in the caddie and nearly wrecked the car driving home with them. He came barreling out of the car at Graceland with chickens and FEATHERS everywhere. His cadalliac was ruined but he was laughing and having a ball!

I love animals too...don't have any since we moved to Hawai'i two years ago. I REALLY MISS MY PETS.

You might like to see my photo album on Spirit Mythos...lotsa pet pictures included. Wanda, I JUST re-did it after I sent you that link, so you haven't seen the new pictures...of the dogs.

I didn't include any of my and my Elvis wall of years ago. I DO mention Elvis on SM, but thought the "wall" as a bit much...too "fan" looking.

 Post subject: Paul's wife
PostPosted: Wed May 03, 2006 12:38 pm
It's really difficult for women who marry celb. men when their lst wife is gone- sad but true. Pierce Bronsan's girlfriend apparently went through the same kinds of things. I hope Paul's wife can make a splash in her work for animals. We and especially the animals need all the help that they can get from people who care-so many don't. wjh

THAT'S HIS NAME! I was trying to remember it...Pierce Bronsan!

A few weeks ago he was walking around right in front of me while I was waiting for Simeon outside the Blossoming Lotus resturant. He called to his wife and she stuck her head around the corner, then disapeared again. He was apparently waiting for her. He seemed so nice and radiated a very peaceful, loving presence.

I understand that he has a home in the Islands...not sure if it is on Kaua'i amd that there is a memorial marker there for his first wife.

YES IT SURE DOES, AND IF I HAD THE MONEY AND A BIG ENOUGH PLACE I WOULD HAVE EVERY UNWANTED ANIMAL THERE WAS TO GET, IT SEEMS LIKE ELVIS HAD A WIDE VARETIY OF ANIMALS IN HIS LIFE. I KNOW I HAVE! FAIRYTALE!

Very possessive about his private personal life, home, things, etc; and family. He shared willingly to a point, and then watch out, don't cross him, don't step on his toes or any of his things toes...or look out! Like Lisa said, Darth Vader could take lessons from her dad when he was angry and upset. It took a lot to do it, but when it happened, he was beyond normal angry...and coming from this quiet, soft spoken, funny and nice guy-it must have been a sight! He even knew his temper was terrible and he prayed about it, asked for prayer to help him keep it under control. So he kept it in and got stomach problems as a result. You know, that statement about holding everything in and not letting it out, not digesting it-was so true in his case. So very true. And he was considered to be "too emotional" and "cried too easily" by so many around him...so he couldn't even do that unless he went to his room and through a fit-usually in the bathroom with the shower full blast he said. Like Jerry says when Pris moved out and took her things including her Merceedes he'd given her, and Elvis told her to teach Lisa to use the phone so she could call him any time- Lisa was 2 1/2 years old. The press didn't ever get the time line right for that break up/separation/on going thing, then he went in his room and they heard him crying, screaming and beating things up
for hours. And they were all stunned, shocked and hurting for him...but no one could help him...he had locked the door. wjh
