In 1972 I was in Vegas at an Elvis show. I had been there in 1969 and 1970 as well. In 1972 however, I received my first kiss from Elvis...actually it was my first kiss, period. I was 27 and never been kissed! (I lived a sheltered life of my own choosing.)
I came to quite a few shows and got a kiss at just about every one that engagement. I would just stand there, and he would come to me. I looked VERY young and "babydoll" with long, red hair. He liked that sort of thing. So I was fortunate to be able to catch his eye. I was also giving him esoteric material and he seemed to REALLY like that.
Anyway, each time he kissed me I would instinctively turn my head just a little so that he only caught the corner of my mouth. So one night he came toward me with a very determined look on his face. When I did my little turn-the-head thing, he moved HIS head, following me quickly, and gave me a very loud SMACK that echoed over the mike throughout the showroom. Everyone was laughing as they saw with his exaggerated jesture that he was making SURE he got me on the LIPS.
The LOOK on his face was priceless. It was a wicked little smirk of "I gotcha!"
me in 1970

What a joy it must have been. To be able to be close to him, to see him. I hope I don't miss him in the next life.

OK, maybe I shouldn't do this, ladies, but I will turn up the FLAME a bit!
His kisses for me, were very electric on the one hand (like getting a mild yet surprizing and pleasing SHOCK), but his SKIN (lips, etc) were like warm SILK. Granted, I have only kissed three men (on the mouth) in my life and they were all dear to my heart...so no comparisions here as far as "heart works" goes. I am just talking about the tactile SENSES. With Elvis it was very different...like kissing an electrified yet silky softness. I felt like I wasn't just kissing one person, but a CHANNEL for energy!

You know, I knew him nearly 15 years and he kissed me on the forehead, cheek and hand several times, but only three times did he kiss me on the lips-the first time when I didn't know him all that well and it blew my mind-I was scared speechless and he was so determined. The other two times happened when he came to tell me good-bye-in 76. And one of those times, I was kissing him because he had asked me earlier in the year why I had never kissed him, not even on the cheek-did I think he was dirty or something? Then I said, I didn't think it would have been a good idea to be seen kissing Elvis Presley since I was married. He sounded like it hurt his feelings, so I said, Okay, get back out here and I'll make sure you know I don't think you are too dirty to kiss-do you want me to jump on the stage and hang around your neck too? He had busted up laughing at the thought. Anyway, a few weeks later he did get out here, I did get to kiss him, baby kisses, like he gave from the stage-3 on the lips and one on the tip of his nose. He just stood there, leaning down, eyes shut and had a pleased little smile curling up that one side-I kissed it too, both sides and the lower lip which I really did like about his mouth. And then his nose. He was so cute, kind of shy and then he took over and kissed me but nothing like that first one in 64, which was terrifying because I didn't expect that from him, he had been so brotherly-and then to do that...and turn on the heat like he did! I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to see him ever again...then I decided it was a test-he was making sure I wasn't "after him" in some way. He never did it again, and he never said a word about it-I didn't either so I am sure it was a "test" and I "passed". Whewww!
When he came to say goodbye, I knew I'd never see him again...and so did he... That's all I can say about it now...but the whole thing is in that manuscript.
ANNOUNCMENT !!!
The book is on the way-it is nearly ready for them to send me an E-copy and I'll get it back fast. Then in about 14 days it will be ready to be a book! Thank the good Lord! Finally. this is worse than having a baby! wjh

IF I WAS ASKED IF I COULD GO BACK IN MY LIFE AND DO ONE THING I DIDN'T GET TO DO, I WOULD SAY YES I WOULD LIKE TO DO JUST ONE THING. I WOULD GIVE EVERYTHING I HAVE IN THIS LIFE, IF I COULD HAVE LOOKED IN TO THE BLUEST LOVING EYES THAT WAS EVER ON A HUMAN, IF I COULD HAVE SEEN THAT SMILE, AND FACE. IF I COULD HAVE TOUCHED A HAND, AND IF I COULD HAVE FELT A TENDER SWEET KISS ON MY LIPS! IF I COULD HAVE HEARD THAT VOICE WHISPER IN MY EAR, I COULD SAY IT WAS WORTH IT! WANDA I WAS LISTENING TO HE'LL HAVE TO GO WHILE I WAS READING ABOUT ELVIS KISSING YOU AND THE TEARS STARTED TO FLOW . THERE PROBALY ISN'T A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT SOMETHING DOESN'T REMIND YOU OF ELVIS, AND MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU TO HAVE HAD HIM IN YOUR LIFE AND TO BEEN SO CLOSE TO HIM, IF IT HAD BEEN ME AND I KNEW HE WASN'T GOING TO BE BACK I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW I WOULD COPE. I KNOW IT REALLY STILL IS VERY ROUGH ON YOU, SO JUST REMEMBER WHEN YOU PUT UP A STORY LIKE YOU JUST DID IT LETS THE ONES LIKE ME THAT DIDN'T GET THAT MOMENT, YOU HAD WE CAN CLOSE OUR EYES AND AT LEAST DREAM IT WAS ME AND US! THANK YOU WANDA!! FOR MY DREAMS! BARB!
