Testing the spirits

Postby Rainbow Light » Wed May 23, 2007 7:08 am

Please excuse and forgive me as I was trying to find a thread/post within the Forum in which Wanda had mentioned a dream she'd had where she'd been told and warned that if Elvis appeared to Wanda with red eyes burning to leave him alone and not be anywhere near him but despite looking over the forum for this I can't find it anywhere so offer my apologies for this!

However, Wanda's post and those around from other ELC members made various comments as to needing to test the spirits. As Wanda mentioned, obviously the true Elvis had the bluest of blue eyes and so this burning red eyed character was a manifestation from the darker other side but I got to thinking a little more about this topic and seem to recall from the Bible that there is a necessity to test the spirits in general anyway.

I think the test, should the Spirit prove to be real there should be an open and honest acknowledgement of Jesus as the Lord and Savior but if any other spirit should not be willing to offer this acknowlegement then we should deny and reject them as false? I guess, on first sight some may even claim to be helping in the spirit of light but then there are false apostles also, there's something to that effect also in the Bible I'm sure! Elvis could tell me, he knew great chunks off by heart, oh for a memory like his!

Sue, what an interesting subject! I found Wanda's dream of which you were referring and it is well worth the read again! Here is the link: elvislightedcan-about1617-0.html

What comes to mind when testing the spirits is a scripture in Acts 16. It talks about a fortune telling prophetess following Paul & his followers saying '''These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.' And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, 'I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.' An he came out that very hour."

I find that scripture passage interesting because there wasn't anything wrong with what she was saying. It was the spirit behind it. This woman, influenced by a demon, was only interested in increasing her profit and was using Paul.
And we are also told that Satan comes as angel of light, deceiving people, as the above fortune teller tried to do.

Here is quote from Wanda's deam:
If he comes to you, holds out his hand and smiles- and his eyes glow red-IT IS NOT HIM! Do not go!
Say,"Be gone from me-You can not enter! In Jesus' name, amen!" And then she turned and went about 10 steps and turned into sparkling lights and disappeared.

I think the warning in Wanda's dream also has to do with deception. Usually we are not actually going to see red eyes in a deceiver, but her dream gives us a clue that a smiling Elvis may be presented to her/us yet not be reflective of the real Elvis.

It behooves one to sense God as dwelling within each of us, rather than as some distant entity, far above and seemingly beyond our reach.

Yes, we do need to be careful of "what" might come to us in many forms. The Bible warns of many things that might come from the "devil" in the guise of "light and love" and "godliness" as well. I believe we all have the built in ability to decern these things-it is God given and we all have certain uneasiness about things that do not seem "right" in some way. Many people are so busy they do not "listen" as Elvis said, "life is so full, so needful and the rush to necessitites is so strong in all of us, we neglect our spiritual bodies in feeding the physical it's needs and wants. It's the wants that will whip ya' man! Got to put it God's hands-an' then all of it will come to be that's right at the time." I remember he'd say things similar but this one I have written down-and he would add "Amen!" in a soft breathless way as if maybe using his comment as a prayer of his own? wjh

Firstly, thank you Laurie for your help in providing a link to Wanda's dream and original posting, much appreciated! :) Also for your excellent feedback and comments too!

So that's where it was, I should have guessed 'If I Can Dream', sort of gives the game away doesn't it, du'h?!!!!

Thank you also to Wanda for your comments and feedback in particularly,

Absolutely right, I guess this can be translated into instinct, 'hunches' or speaking a little more in spiritual terms, listening to that 'still, small voice' or 'inner voice'. But for sure, Elvis had it nailed in your mentioned comment that people do not take time out to truly listen and yes I would say by adding 'Amen' it could be saying a prayer of his own, despite being as spiritual man as he was possibly able to be in his position, nevertheless he had all the 'temptations' around him that money could buy ie "it's the wants that will whip 'ya man!". Surely credit to Elvis then that he managed to resist so much!

I agree wholeheartedly with what both of you ladies have said above. :D I remember reading somewhere one time something Kathy Westmoreland said that Charie said to her--"now is the time for us to be still and listen.". :) Very wise and helpful words from a very wise and helpful man. :D I feel that the more we take the time to do what Charlie said, the easier it will be for us to discern between what is right and what doesn't seem right. :) Thank you so much Sue-Lenora for posting such a thought provoking thread. :D
