Excerpt from We Remember, Elvis, by Wanda June Hill. Elvis is speaking.
Quote: Uhh. . .the past few years. . .have been very eh. . .emotional for me an' uh. . .I believe that most people can understand why. The break-up of a marriage an' a home. . .uhh, especially when children are involved. . .it's emotional an' uh. . .if it were not for my faith in God and my ability to go to Him, pray n' seek guidance. . .I. . .I uhh. . .I don't know. . .I don't think I would have weathered it as well as I did.

Thanks Laurie for bringing this up, you can just feel through Elvis's words how truly hurt he was. I think his Marriage not lasting affected Elvis just as much as when his mother died, but like he said he knew that the Lord would give him the strength and support he needed to get through one more loss in his life. FairyTale!

Thank you, Laurie!
(Just two days ago I was going over Wanda's book. I stopped just in this part and read it twice!)
Quote: I don't think I would have weathered it as well as I did.
Just imagine how it could have been if he "weathered" it badly! To my understanding, Elvis was fully devastated about it.

I agree, Amanda. "Weathering it so well" is an image that makes me want to cry for the emotional and the physical pain that Elvis endured through his time here on earth.
Thanks,
Marjorie

You speak the truth about the treasure that too many on earth did not really know was here. He weathered more than many of us could have or could today so many years later.
He was a gift from the One above and I for one am content in my heart that Elvis is held in arms filled with love and hope and peace for all.

Quote: In 1973/1974, when Vernon Presley and his 2nd wife Dee were going through a divorce, Vernon recorded the song "Don't Close Your Door" on a tape recorder.
That same song surfaced two years ago at the Jim E. Curtin auction, and is for sale on CD to order!

But... how does Elvis's father sound like? Here's a little teaser for you.
The complete song is over 4 minutes, but this sample may give you an idea. http://www.horlecante.be/songs/Vernon.mp3

His dad has a nice voice and the one time I heard Elvis have him sing with him, they blended very nicely. After all they used to sing together all the time. wjh

Vernon's voice sounds soft and gentle.
I would like to "replay" and listen to the songs Elvis sang along with his parents as a trio in his childhood days!!!!

I WOULD HAVE LOVE TO HEAR VERNON SING!! He had such a nice speaking voice. As did Elvis. I saw somewhere on the web that a recording was found of vernon singing and may be released. Anyone else hear about this?

Hi, Txwoman4, I mentioned it a few posts up in this thread and included a link to a snippet of the song Vernon sung.

Rainbow Light wrote: As well as weathering the end of his marriage which for sure must have had devastated him, he also weathered well many illnesses, problems which he kept to himself in the hope that it would not be a burden for others or because of his caring and compassionate nature, sought to care and protect those who were dear and close to his heart. It surely is a testament to Elvis' heart, spirit, faith and the LOVE EFFECT he showed to so very many during his life that he was, somehow, able to weather things quite so well as he did, no? It most definitely is a testament yes Sue. It honestly only was his un-ending faith in God that got him through the terrible sadness, pain(physical and emotional) and heartache that he had to endure and "weather" during his life. It still just completely amazes me how he dealt with it all and saddens me that he even had to. 73smile wrote: He was a gift from the One above and I for one am content in my heart that Elvis is held in arms filled with love and hope and peace for all.
I just had to quote what you said here too dear Marjorie and say that I 3rd this beautiful sentiment.
My thanks to you also Laurie for the information and links you shared with us. Vernon did have a nice voice, soft and gentle like you said sweet Sarena and when I listened to that portion of his song, I was just picturing how beautifully he must have sounded singing along with his wonderfully gifted son.

Thank you Laurie, for letting we know what Vernopn's voice was like through the link you posted.
Like Sarena said above, it would be really wonderful to listen to Vernon, Gladys and Elvis singing together. Maybe some recording will come out someday from some familiar or friend that got to tape it.

In rereading page 41 of Wanda's WRE book, it was disheartening to read about the fabrications the MM helped to feed to Priscilla regarding Elvis' fidelity in the Vegas years. All kinds of rubbish was fed to her, through helpers, just so Priscilla would not want to come to Vegas because the MM didn't want her coming as she would bring along the MM's wives, ruining their "fun". And when the MM were having their wild times, no doubt cheating on their wives, Elvis was usually sleeping.
I mention all this because I wonder if any of the MM has ever admitted to having played a part in the break-up of Elvis' marriage. Clearly they were responsible in part, deliberatley lying and at other times assuming the worst about Elvis for their own selfish gain. Could the marriage have stood a chance w/o there having been such negative gossip spread to Priscilla?

Not to stir others emotions -people still alive that are the ones directly related with those circunstances- let me only comment Laurie, that what you signal has an basic lesson for us:
We all ought to be careful and considerate with our deeds, not to seed some negativity that could grow to proportions we have not control on and that may break harmony.
