The Golden Key to Happiness

Postby maia » Thu Nov 10, 2005 4:36 pm

written by Elvis to a friend inside a Bible he gave them:

The Golden Key to Happiness is confidence in doing what you know is right, what you believe in, stand by, and uphold in life. You have the Key of Life - use it and it unlocks the world of God's love and Blessings. Knowledge is the Key. Use it wisely, strive for it, and turn not away. Use the key and follow the path of righteousness, and God's Blessings will come as a brilliant Golden Light in your life.

The Golden Key to Happiness

Postby Rainbow Light » Wed Mar 22, 2006 7:08 am

I've brought this forward as I believe and feel it is so indicative of Elvis' way of life in general. It is such a beautiful, positive statement and says SO much about him and how he felt about life, his moral standards, what he believed in and so forth.

All in all, isn't it such a true statement of what kind of a man he was and how he has continued to have such a positive, worldwide appeal and influence on those whose hearts and spirits he has touched?!

It can't be by coincidence that he sang :

'Knock and the door shall be open
Seek and you will find
Ask and you'll be given
The key to this heart of mine'

No, don't believe it is. Feel like, while I knew a fair amount about Elvis before I came to this forum, I've discovered a lot more since, specially thanks to Maia and Wanda!

Found a reading that seems to fit in well with this idea as follows:-

Philippians 4:1-9

Therefore, my brethren, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved. I entreat Eu-o'dia and I entreat Syn'tyche to agree in the Lord. And I ask you also, true yokefellow, help these women, for they have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace will be with you.

Hope it's ok to quote biblical passages/readings here?

YOU KNOW EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE THINGS GOING ON IN ELVIS'S LIFE AND AROUND HIM, HE STILL KNEW WHERE TO GO FOR STRENGTH. HE KNEW THAT WHEN EVER HE WAS IN PAIN, OR HIS FEELING,S WERE HURT. OR HE FELT ALONE IF THERE WAS KNOW ONE ELSE AROUND FOR HIM TO FIND PEACE AND COINFORT. ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS PICK UP HIS BIBLE, OR PICK UP HIS GUITAR, OR SIT AT THE PIANO. HE KNEW THAT HIS LORD AND SAVIOR WAS THERE IN THE SCRIPTURES, AND IN THE GOSPEL SONGS FOR HIM TO REACH OUT TO. SO SUE I THINK ITS GREAT TO PUT SCRIPTURES ON HERE, YOU NEVER KNOW WHO MIGHT NEED TO READ IT AND GET THE HELP FROM THE LORD THEY HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR. THANKS!! BARB!

AS FOR THE READING: YES, IF IT CAN HELP EITHER SOMEONE ALREADY HERE OR FROM OUTSIDE WHO CHECKS INTO THE FORUM AND CAN BE OF USE TO SOMEONE WHO NEEDS IT, THERE SHOULD BE NO PROBLEM - I HOPE!

I think that as long as it is helpful, and isn't "dictictating" what to anyone, why not? Not only Biblical writings but other inspiritional things as well. This is a site for spiritual guidance and exploring Elvis' spiritual connections and beliefs...he was freely studying all kinds of such things and keeping an open mind as well as a God guided mind in his studies. We, as fellow humans could only benefit by following that path as well. So as spirit moves you-so be it. wjh

Bringing this thread up to the top of the forum as some of the newer members may have missed out on reading.
