They Cried

Postby Rainbow Light » Sun Jul 02, 2006 4:28 am

Hi Barb! Hope you don't mind me posting in one of your sections?, but found this and just had to share with all, hope you enjoy:

THEY CRIED
One baby lived and one baby died.
A young mother and father rejoiced and cried.
Their life was hard, their futures unsure;
But with love for each other, they would endure.
The baby grew.
He became a young man.
He walked proudly the path his fate had planned.
Riches and fame, life laid at his feet.
Despite it all he stayed humble and sweet.
Then, as life will, It asked a great toll.
The boy suffered a loss that pierced his soul.
A singer lived. A mother died.
The boy and his father embraced and cried.
Life went on but left in his heart ties of love
no time nor grave could part.
A wife and a child, a love that had lied;
Once more in his life the young man had cried.
Fate knocked again and Fortuned did smile.
He rose to great heights once more, for a
while.
Death, as it will, called him to come home.
He answered that call while he was alone.
A Legend lived. Elvis had died.
His father and child and a whole world cried.

This is one of the most loving poems I have ever read. What a talent with words this person has and I am so glad that the poem is being shared with us here.

YES, BEAUTIFUL! I remember just after Elvis' passing, so many wrote this passionately about him...of course the still do...but it was fresh then...the grief, the loss...and it came out of a deep well inside of everyone. Including me.
