on the Different Versions of the Bible!
There are some that have been done where the true meaning of what Jesus said, or has been written that he said, they--they altered words, changed them and that has made what he meant to mean somethin' different now to me, that is wrong to do, but I guess maybe whoever did it was thinkin' it would be easier for people to understand; it just isn't the same statement of Facts.

It is a fact, then whenever people worte about history or about Jesus' thought and words, there is never a objective sight but always a subjective one. That's human. Personally I believe that all the things said by the different churches are correct, but missinterpreted during tgeh course of time.

The best example for this is Elvis. How much people did missunderstood or missinterepret his words.

:hello: You are so Right Angel Eyes, But Elvis Reads from the King James Bible The Following: Ezra CH.6 Vs 13: King Darius Speaking. " Also I have made a decree that whosoever Shall Alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house and bring Set Up, let him be hanged there on, and let his house be made a dunghill for this" Elvis: Man, that was pretty plain though this from the Old Testament an' King Darius is defending the rights of the Jewish People to build their Temple an' they did it n' one day comin' soon, they'er gonna get it back too because because God Promised 'n he Ain't gone back on his word yet!"

Hi Rose Lyn. Maybe you or Wanda can tell me if Elvis was baptised in water, you know immersed. I think I read somewhere maybe on this site that he was as a young boy in Tupelo but not sure. He knew so much about the Bible I can't imagine he wasn't. Whats the story there girls?

:hello: Thank You White Bud for your Nice Comment, but all I try to do is let Members and people that Stop in to just Read or Look around. A Picture of Elvis the Man, what his Thoughts and Ideas were in his Own Words that he Never was able to do when he was Physically with us and That is what Wanda as Done with her Books. I post a few of the Thoughts that Elvis had that stand out the Most to me, so Hopefully People will Understand Him Better. Elvis was Baptized in Tupelo when he was Pretty Little, I would imagine it is at a Pond there in Tupelo close to that Little Church they Moved that Elvis and his Parents went to Church,so as for being Baptized there yourself. I'm not all that sure you could now, you would Probably have to become a Member the Assembly of God Church there in Tupelo. I was raised in the same kind of Church and I know you had to be a Member, so I hope this Helps.

Hi, yes Elvis was baptized as a child, some have said when he was 12 but he said he wasn't 12 yet and he wanted to do it so his mom let him. He spoke of being so excited and happy afterward, he and a friend went through town telling everyone
and that he felt like he was floating from his body when he was ducked under.
At those times people were ducked beneath the water, usually a pond or some
pooling creek water but later on most churches had baptismal tanks installed
usually behind the pulpit and had a curtain drawn except when services were
being done-Baptizing people. I was baptized in a tank- Elvis felt doing it in a natural setting was better if possible and he felt that sprinkling water was not following
the way it was described when Jesus was baptized. However, he also felt that
the intent and personal commitment and acknowledgment of being a "sinner"
who was giving his life over to God was the most important thing- therefore the
manner of doing it didn't lesson the act it's self. He put it in much more elegant
simple words and I do not have that in transcript or anywhere else...just a few
things that I recall being surprised to hear the way he was putting it. He was
so good at teaching, because he considered every thing and then boiled it
down to a few simple statements that tended to encompass and explain it
in a simple straightforward manner. I wish I had that gift- I just go on and on
and tend ramble on. He also said, people who did not have the joy of being
baptized were not in jeopardy (I remember he used that word) because it was
a symbolic act and that heartfelt prayer and following God's teachings were
the most important. not everyone, he said, could be Baptized therefore he
did not think God would "frown" on anyone who was not. I feel his thoughts
were correct on that score too.
It was true one had to be a member of the church to be Baptized when I was
younger but I don't think they all insist on that these days. I'm not certain
though, but not to long a go I saw where a pastor had Baptized a whole bunch
of people, some of whom were not members of any church but had come to
the revival and were saved, then they had a big service at a river near the
town he had been preaching at. I don't think that required membership so maybe now it wouldn't? It would not hurt to speak to someone in Tupelo
and ask- that church is still there I think, only bigger now. The pastor is
probably no longer alive as he was older back then, but they are bound to have
a new one.
That would be a great idea Camille, it was a special feeling having it done, I
can remember well how it felt for me, and the fact I was scared of water
over my face due to a child hood incident in a swimming pool. It took a long
time for me to put my face under water. Crazy how kid things can make
adults silly...
Have a nice weekend and stay warm!
wjh

Thank you Wanda and Rose Lynn for your nice replies.. I am going back to Memphis and Tupelo in September and I want to get Baptised. I never was, and I feel it is necessary for me now in these momentous times. I think how you described what Elvis said Wanda is very helpful and true. Because according to some writers Baptism is a Greek word meaning to dip or imerse in water not sprinkle or pour as is the custom in the more established religion. So wish Elvis was here now to advise us on spiritual matters. He had a handle on the Truth which cut through all the confusion, he had a broad view because of his discussions with Larry Geller and Daya Mata but at heart he was still a devout Christian, like the lady said "A bell sheep for all his fans"
