I was not at home the other day when a knock sounded at the door, but my beautiful Lisa was there to welcome the guests into our home that I called Graceland, precious Graceland, gentle solace, humble respect and honor from the guests to my Lisa,
The blue and white front room was full of peace and wonder for those seeing it for the first time, and precious, oh precious Graceland,
was shared by Lisa with others and she had love and respect and I was happy,
My gracious daughter was helping the world to see the home I loved so much, because when I lived in the physical sense, only those special few were ever let in when a knock sounded at the door at Graceland, precious Graceland,
Colorful stained glass covering the light over my billards table was viewed, but not the corner where Lisa chipped it when she hit it while at play; then on to the room where water can be heard, a very special place I created using shades of greens and browns and hues of gold,
Precious Graceland, with Oprah's help, let the world have a peek at where I lived, where Lisa played and later in the night smiled as she slept, and so precious Graceland, with pictures everywhere of those I loved, precious, so precious, my Graceland, my Graceland.

Thank you Amanda for helping me to feel welcome. I am not very good at writing poems but I do like to write prose about the beautiful man who has us all together here sharing thoughts and memories about him. :)

Once graceland was his home and it was his refugee.

it witnessed very happy moments and very sad ones.

It is a house with a soul. It was a haven for Elvis and for his little daughter. A family lived there and made plans for the future like we all do but sadly the family broke apart and after that things were never the same at graceland.

Now that beautiful house is only a reminder of what is once was. A home.

But not anymore. Just a silent reminder of what once was....

that is how i feel about Graceland.

That is so true, Amanda.

I am glad that Elvis can inspire me and I hope he continues to "be with" my brother, Victor, who is 70, and October 30th will be the first anniversary of his wife, Irene, leaving this world. They called each other Babe for over 46 years of a marriage that was so loving that all one had to do was to see them together. The love was always there.
Victor has been an Elvis fan forever and most of the songs in his jukebox are Elvis songs. Vic is teaching himself to play some of Elvis' songs on a guitar. Irene, like Elvis, will always be in my heart.

It's always precious to discover LOVE in a long term marriage, grown and deepened by time. It's touching and hopeful.

By affinity, it's sure they are close to Elvis, as much as you are. :P
