Yes, Happy Halloween to everyone. So far this evening, I've only had two kids show up.
Not as many kids go from door to door like they did years ago because I think people don't trust stangers as much.

It's too bad Wanda can not get on to the forum at present because she could tell of several ghost stories
she has personally experienced.

Hope everyone here at ELC had a happy Halloween. :D I agree with you dear Sue---that is quite a fantastic pumpkin display/sale. :D :D Thank you so much for sharing it with us sweet Laurie. :D I also think it is too bad that Wanda can't be on here with us right now as not only would it have been great to hear her ghost stories, but like you also said dear Sue her sweet presence and light is most definitely missed around here. :( I am glad to know that she will be back online with us again soon. :D :D As for our Halloween, we had a party here at the house for our precious daughter and some of her friends. :D The house was all decorated inside and out, and I dressed up as a giant red m&m and my husband Joe was dressed as The Cat In The Hat. :P My little angel was dressed as a twilight fairy and looked so cute!! :D Unlike you ladies, we actually had an abundance of trick or treaters come to our door, and at one point we had what almost seemed like a production assembly line of them--about 40 all at once!! It was fun though and we even had someone from our local paper show up at our house to take pictures of the flurry of activity we had. :P :D Strangers and safety was apparently as issue in our area too as we saw quite a few cars actually driving their little trick or treaters from house to house. :( As they say--"things just ain't like they used to be" I guess.

Strange enough, until now (last two years or so) the tradition in Spain in many regions of the country, was to celebrate that day eating especial sweets made with sweet potatoes and nutpines, or simply cooking the sweet potatoes and chestnuts in the stove and eating them very warm... You could find by the streets the traditional figure of cookers/sellers of these especialties, seated by a fire inside a big tin, where they were roasted and then enveloped in paper cones that would warm the hands of the buyer...

But now, out of nowhere (well, from the films indeed) it is starting the "treat or trick" thing at some places. I have not experienced it yet, because it's only starting, but I don't like the people copying other countries uses just from a business interest, or something alike, creating useless "needs".

The 1st. was Antonio birthday and we celebrated it with a nice meal with friends at home, with cake and champan toasts and hours and hours of mostly evolutive-spiritual talking well into the night, when I had to "push out" from my home our guests, because I was just spent and they still wanted more... Of course, Elvis-El'vis was present in our conversation now and then... :P :P

I've had guests in my home before too dear Amanda that we've kind of had to "push out" so I can understand how you feel in that respect. I hope Antonio had a very happy birthday filled with lots of laughter, joy and fun!! :P :D I have no doubt that Elvis was present in your conversation from time to time dear friend. :P :D

I welcome very much your understanding of this kind of situations, Mari. :P :P And yes, we enjoyed very much the day and Antonio was happy about it all -which was the main intention, prior to anything else...

Well, I would like to add that in Germany Halloween (somehow a copy from USA)is just slowly becoming a special day (mostly for children who dress like ghosts, whitches ....). The first of November, the day after, is here a sacred Holiday called "All Saints" and the saints are remembered as well as the departed family members (people visit the gravesites).

I think that the "Harry Potter" books by J.K. Rowling have very much enhanced the interest in the magical world !
(By the way I love these Harry Potter books! They are very special!!! First my two elder sons read them and then after some years I decided to find out myself why Harry is so popular. Now I know!! )
