Those are the puppies I am being 'nanny' to and helping mom rotate them so they all get a turn at the "milk bar". Mom only has 8 faucets...and 11 babies soooo...
what a racket they can make when they can't get up to the bar!
they were just a couple of days old if that in these photos, and are twice that
size now. We have all the girls placed...but people hesitate to take a boy because of their tendency to hike their leg etc...however, if the boy puppy is
fixed around 6 months of age he will never hike his leg and will not be messy or
have other kinds of undesirable boy traits. Same with girls, spay them around 6 to 7 months and they will be great playmates and friends to children and they
are less prone to wonder or fight etc... boys will stay home better too...and they
won't be looking for a fight. Also train them to walk, sit, stay and come when
they are young...and everyone in the household must be on the same 'page' in
the commands for these things. All dogs are ready to please their owners, but
they have to know what the owner wants them to do, so teach them and be
patient. always praise your dog when it comes to you, even if it's slow about it
and playing. You are God to them, and God loves his "kids" gently. Dogs are
loyal, they will stay with their owner when there is nothing to eat, they will
lay beside them in freezing weather, they will walk with them to the ends of
the earth, and they only want one thing, to see their owner's face, to have that pat on the head and hear their owner's voice say, "good dog, good dog".
Most of the puppies are spoken for, all of the girls, and Elvis will go fast- he is
the only one with a fancy coat of gray, white and a golden sheen and he is
standing on his head, white tipped tail in the air nursing in the first photo...I
called him that for a nick name because he has 4 white show boots on and
a fancy coat and he requires a lot of attention...fer sure. Mom's name is "Sugar Baby"...she looks as if she walked through powered sugar as the tips of
her toes are white and she is a real spoiled house baby.

awww she and her babies are adorable, I'd have them all if I had the room, time and money lol

What breed are they wanda? The mother looks like a pit or staffordshire bull terrier, might be wrong though

She is an American Bull Terrier and from the looks of the puppies their father
was a Stafford-shire. Starla found her wondering in high traffic just about 20
feet from the off ramp of one of the busy freeways a few miles north of where
we live...it was hailing and sleeting, the dog was wet, cold and extremely
heavy with puppies and she was exhausted. She had no collar and is not chipped,
I placed English and Spanish found dog ads out, she put up posters with her
photo in a 5 mile area of where she found her. Not one call, other than breeders
who wanted her if...no way, this is her last litter! She's sweet, gentle and very
well trained, and a house dog- that is obvious. She was even paper trained
and now her pups are born, she asks to go out to do her business. Her pads
on her feet were "carpet pads" and are just now getting a few callus on them
because we walk her around the place here. We probably will keep her, and her
pups are being spoken for- I didn't realize these dogs were so desirable what
with their "Media made bad reputation as being mean". It is people who make
them mean, most of the dogs are sweet, loyal and very devoted to their owners
and they are good dogs, wanting to please. Anyway, they will go to homes
where we know the people are kind and take care of their animals...and we
know them personally...Starla has a lot of friends through her work and she
works all over the place-even out of state. She has 5 dogs already spoken
for and they have named them, so when I can start teaching the puppies to
sit, come, stay and down- it will be by their chosen names. I like doing that
when they are small, they learn fast and it's easy. And we are giving the pups away -all the new owners will have to pay is for the Parvo virus
shots that they need at 6 weeks old- I won't let them go until they are nearly
8 weeks and weaned well. That way there is no loose stools the new owners
have to deal with- every little bit helps with a puppy! So far the 3 girls have names by their soon to be new owners: a chocolate brown/white is "Starla", another that color but with more white is "Sophia"; the other is a tan with some
dark highlights and her "mascara has smeared and ran down her face on both sides perfectly matched "runs"- she is "Elsa"...she was the first to have a name
and she already knows it! She is 9 days old.
Gotta go,
bye, wjh

Thought the pups were staffy's, they have the same ears and head shape as mine, Rocky. I love american bull dogs, pits and staffys, there so gentle and loving, sadly pits are banned in the UK because of people's carelessness and using them for fighting :(, many people in the UK smuggle them through ireland so they can have them which is illegal, but blame the handle/owner and not the breed.

I thought pups had to have their shots at 8 weeks, I know my vet said if they have them earlier than 8 weeks, it won't take and has to be re-done.

Hi, Parvo is the only one that can or should be given around here as it's always
been rampant in this area though we are further up but she came from down
below in the valley, heavy population area. The others can't be given until they are 8 weeks or older... Parvo kills more puppies and dogs than just about any other disease in the US they say...I saw it happen to a puppy we got in '94, she was one of 7 at a feed store that were up for grabs. They all looked fat and happy; but less than 2 weeks later she suddenly went into convulsions; the vet
said sometimes there is no sign of illness, it just attacks the nervous system and
the dog suddenly runs a high fever and that's it. So I won't take chances with
any dog I don't know anymore- I felt that the mom here had been well cared for, clipped nails, clean skin and ears and she was shiny of coat and clear eyes. She was just lost...maybe out looking for her owner because she didn't want to be left alone when she was going to have puppies very soon. Who knows, I wish I could
"talk and understand" to the animals. But have only had random moments of
realized "communication" with a few. I too, like these dogs, and feel they have
had a bad rap laid on them when it is the owners who work at making them
mean.
Bye,
wjh

Adorable pictures! Still trying to figure out exactly which one is "Elvis" though. I did save them to my desktop for better viewing because on my computer I have to keep using the scroll bar back and forth when viewing large ELC posted photos.

In the last photo up, he is the one on the right, he has gray stripes in his coat,
and you can't see his muzzle or eyes, but the top of his head and little ears are
showing, You can't see the white boots/gloves Starla calls them on his front foot
but he has short ones on and will have white toes on the front and boots on the hind. He has darker markings around his eyes like he's wearing shades, and he has
fancy striping on his cheeks and all through his hair coat of gray, black tipped hair and also some golden tan flecking in stripes, he's fancy. He is also in the first photo next to mom, he's the one upside down...eating. Only his body and little white tipped tail is showing much. He looks like his dad
probably, who might have been a Stafford Shire judging from the heads of some
of them and the fact that Elvis is very different colored than the others- he may
have blue eyes as often they do...it would be really weird if he does. I just called him that because he was very affectionate though blind still, he whines alot and is needy and likes to be cuddled and usually is surrounded by the smaller girls of which there is 5...and 6 males. Elvis is the smaller of the males though there is one all blonde/tan one who is about the same size...Elvis "sings" also, and he
whines when he's being crowded by another pup when sleeping. He sings when
he wants to eat...sounding somewhat like a little coyote howling. He just is
a character and he's "dressed up and wearing his show boots and shades". all of them are cute as can be, and have different personalities...ll of them and each one is unique. Amazing. Mom is very good, she is wise to it all and I told
her she'd never have to do this again. She knows the word "home" and she would like to return to that home, but we have no idea where that might be- no one has called, and there are poster signs in sealed plastic sleeves so the
rain won't ruin them. Starla was over there yesterday working, she said some of the posters have been taken down as the city does that, but there are still
some up at intersections and various other places- but not one call in response
to the newspaper ads or posters. She saw another big dog in the same area
who had just had pups obviously, thin as a rail herself but she was out looking
for food- Starla pulled up and put out a pile of food and some water where she
would find it on her search. The dog did, and was eating when she left her.
We can't take in another dog and pups and the pound is so crowded now-it's almost hopeless for the animals. At least that one got to eat and can go back
to it's puppies that are probably hidden out somewhere around that area- and
Sugar Baby will have a home for life and her pups will also...If no one takes
her or Elvis, we will keep them and we will have our 3 dogs outside again...it's
good to have 3, they work together and back each other up well. We have a couple of boys about to be chosen, so one might be Elvis...just so he has a good home, that's all that matters.
I am tired, going to bed and try to sleep while the puppies are all sleeping
right now...they just finished up at the "milk bar" so I have about 2 and 1/2 hours to try to sleep some. I'm bushed and beginning to be ditzy through the
day time. It's 19 days and counting since Sugar Baby came home with Starla.
seems longer-but it sure isn't boring...
wjh

:hello: It sure will be something if Elvis does have Blue Eyes, since he sure resembles Elvis in other ways. It is such a Shame how Poor Animals are treated like Objects, and Thrower away. :( :x
