I first heard a part of this song on Larry King about 2 years ago. I does make me sad and blue, but it is another nice tribute to Elvis. I love the videos of him in his Army uniform (so handsome), especially the one in the snow at Fort Dix when he came home. I know at that time he was glad to be going home but scared, too, of how things would be for him after being gone for two years. Anyway, take a listen.

Beautiful, Wanda Mc. Thank you!

Here are the lyrics:

"Cry Like Memphis"
(G. Duffy / R. Wallace)

Cry Like Memphis

Home of the blues is where I live
Trapped inside these lonely walls that won't forget
Surrounded by old memories
Your goodbye haunts me like a Beale Street melody
I've done everything but get down on my knees
And if these tears can set this ghost inside me free

(Chorus)
I'm gonna cry like Memphis
I'm going three times under
Gonna drown my sorrow
In tears that roll like thunder
Til I can find the strength
Til I can carry on
I'm gonna cry like Memphis
When they heard The King was gone

(Inst)

Love Me Tender cuts through the dark
Coming from an open window of a passing car
And In that moment I believe
I can almost feel your body lying next to me
But one heart beating slowly brings me back around
I know you're gone and I know I'm breaking down .....
And when I break down

(Repeat Chorus)

(Inst.)

Til I can find the strength
Til I can carry on
I'm gonna cry like Memphis
When they heard The King was gone

I've seen this one a number of times, and it really speaks for me. I don't know if it was done specifically as a tribute to Elvis, but it certainly fits. And as you can tell from the comments on the video, losing Elvis, even 30 years later, still makes a lot of us cry. I may be crazy, but at least I know I'm not alone in that. Man, he touched a lot of people so very deeply in a way that no one else ever has.
