Hi Joe,

I just looked at your elvis2001 site and read the interviews-I liked them very much-you asked some good questions and let them talk! Good interviewers do that-many aren't good. And I am going to check out some of the other things you have-I would like to find Dick G.'s book-it was never advertised around here or else I was in my "cave" at that time and didn't see it. I wanted to because I had heard he was going to "blow the lid off" on some things. I understand how he was upset with the way it turned out-editing wise-I was also because they cut so much out that I wanted in and put words in that I didn't say on top of that...and there were mistakes throughout. But at least it wasn't derogatory and served the purpose and intent at the time. I will be interested in what people think about the new revised book-it will blow some minds I'm sure of that and people will love it. What's not to love? It's Elvis, in his own words! And telling his story-I just wish I had had the intelligence to get him talking years earlier instead of the last few months of his life. Oh well, better late than never- I used to have a dream of him right after his death-he always did the same thing. Came walking up in the dream, stood in front of me, held out his hand and never said a word, just smiled slightly. In the dream I reached my hand out palm up and he placed a gold key into my hand, smiled and walked off. I'd wake up, the palm of my hand would feel very warm, it would be red where the "key" would have lain. I am looking for what I wrote down about those dreams-because I can't recall exactly what I heard in my mind, him say about that key-something about having given me the key...I want to have it exactly and did write it all down years ago. He had told me something about giving the key of knowledge-whatever, I'll find it as I'm digging through 15 years of "stuff" and I know it's there. I think Maia may have that piece in her Blue Star book-and that's where I'm going to look now.

Thanks Joe, for a great Elvis site!!! Loved the pictures and all the work you’ve done to make it a truly wonderful site to go for Elvis. Wjh

Hi Joe,

We used to get together quite often, the first few years after, but then we moved further out from the beach area into the desert-and people had other lives going, kids and so forth. We still keep in touch with some of them, but some I haven't seen in quite a long while. When our daughter began her band and was out playing clubs, they would come to her shows. I spent my time making her outfits and shirts for the band members-I like doing fancy bead work, etc: or did, now I have trouble seeing the thread and little holes!

But after 10 years and her musicians who were military band members were shipped out of the area to the East coast she decided to get a regular job. She worked her way up the ladder, has a good reputation in her field of business and she still writes songs. Had a chance to go to Nashville and write for some artists a few years ago, but didn't want to leave her job and California.

And her mom and dad, thank heaven! I would have been a wreck. Anyway, one of our oldest friends just turned 93-she and Elvis had a lot to talk about-her husband played guitar for a well known country/movie star back in the "olden" times (Gene Autry) and she used to go on the road with them so they could relate stories-groupies and all back then too. Elvis talked with her about things differently than with me, she had been there, done that and could make him laugh a lot. We miss him-sometimes it's very difficult but I am finally coming to grips with most of it-this book thing is helping me. I think I didn't grieve for him-just put it aside and did the first book trying to counter some of the stuff being said-I am just now getting so I can enjoy his songs again-always did, but they reminded me of different things going on in his life and I would be depressed so I didn't listen. Now I am, it's wonderful again.

Still cry sometimes, but heck, who cares at this point in time. I need to get it all out and on paper before I become too old to remember things. My friend who was close to him in many ways, has reached that point where things are slipping-I guess that made me realize-when we who were here, breathing the same air, who saw him on and off stage, are gone-so is that part of his life-we need to put it on paper, save it for those who were not here then. I have to do it. And it seems to be urgent-so I am. Bye, see-I talk too much! Wjh

I was fortunate to meet the 93-year-old lady Wanda is refering to. She was/is a genuine article! I can understand why Elvis enjoyed her so much. She told me that Elvis would say to her (over the phone):

"What do you want to talk about?" and she would reply, "I dunno, what to you want to talk about." His response: "I dunno. Oh, I know, let's talk about my sex life!"

To which "grandma" would reply in a mock tone of indignation" "WHAT?? I should say NOT! I don't want to know ANYTHING about your sex life!"

At which point, Elvis would die laughing.

Hi, and a top of the morning to you all! Hope it rains there-a storm is out there approaching but it may not get that far down or to us-or it may? Who can tell in today's system? I was thinking about things (Grandma) Suzy told me over the years about Elvis and we spent some time together yesterday. She started talking about Elvis. She said that he told her about the last time he and Cilla were together-just before he left us, a few weeks before, when Lisa came to stay with him through July. And I guess Pris had a relapse or something because he told her he didn't know what happened, really, but she took him upstairs, hanging on him and so forth, (his words) and they ended up making love-and it had been a long while for them, and for him with anyone. Suzy said he was crying, but he wanted to tell her that his wife did love him and not to feel badly toward her, it was his fault she couldn't live with him, not hers. He told Suzy for the "first time in their relationship" she made love to him because she wanted to be with him, wanted him to know that she would always love him regardless of the things they had both done to each other. He didn't go into detail, but his heart was broken, he didn't think he could stand it much longer-he told her he wanted to die and was only living for Lisa's sake, he had to prepare her somehow. And that Priscilla didn't realize, she didn't know, he didn't tell her or let her see that he was gong to die soon. It's funny, but Suzy remembered that-in detail-and she wanted to get it off her mind, so we talked about it and cried, of course. She felt better, perked up and felt that she had helped him when he needed it. He was laughing when they got off the phone...she told him some funny "road" stories that she hadn't told him before because they were "racey" and didn't want to shock him. He wasn't shocked, he laughed and she did too, she said. And he told her some that were just about the same and they giggled and laughed like two naughty kids. Wb

Yes, I the lady is living, but she isn't able to communicate well any more with strangers and won't talk about Elvis to anyone she doesn't know anymore.

So that's not an option. She says her memories are hers alone now...though we talk about him sometimes, when she wants to talk about things with me.

And that's not often anymore; we see her every week for a long visit.
As for stories that I might want to tell, hummmm good question. Why don't you pull one out of the book you have...like when I first met him on the MGM set, he walked up looking like he had just stepped out of a movie (he was making Kissin' Cousins) smiling that smile, held out his hand which I took, shook my hand, told me who he was (duh) and then I felt this squishy goo in our clasped hands. It looked like tan baby poop-- I didn't know what to think, it was a gob of makeup; his eyes were totally innocent, then he cracked up, that was the first time I had heard that real laugh- that's one of my favorite things about him, that wonderful, giggling laugh-his sense of humor was unique, priceless and so him alone. I think he would go to any length, do any thing just to laugh and get other people to laugh with him.

Wow, you are getting up in the world-good job Joe! Your website is very good and has so many things to interest everyone. Lots of hard work and brain strain went in to getting all of that together as you have done. Elvis would like it. (Heck he's probably looking over your shoulder) Best of luck. As for typing things up, how many pages are you guys doing? And what subjects? I know it's expensive to have it done professionally but there are people out there who would do it-maybe you could put an ad out for some one in your area? Just say up front that you would trade space on your website for them or offer something for them in exchange???? like help put them one up-keep it simple-just a thought. I would offer but I have so much to do with the ones I'm doing, there wouldn't be time or mental ability-my brain is full right now. WjH
