Thanks Liliane for posting this-I had seen part of the interview but this is nearly the whole thing! He looked great, dark circles from not sleeping most likely, he was worried he wouldn't fill that arena! He certainly did though! With some who couldn't get in who stood outside to listen. I had friends there who took some horses down for rodeo stuff, they were there and though he was out in the middle on a stage platform and they were in front side good seats, they used binoculars and said he was "gorgeous" and more than they ever expected. They liked him before but they became die hard fans after seeing him 3 times that day. And also when he rode past in the convertible he was bigger than life. Great interview, he was so nervous, but then he never did remain still except when he was acting in films. Always wiggling, fidgeting and sweating too... He had salve of some kind on the corner of his mouth because the dry air chapped and split his lips and the corners of his mouth. So he took precautions to keep it from happening. His comment about how he looked on film in that interview was that he was "drooling" out the side of his mouth. And he didn't like his hair dye job, it wasn't natural looking, and he hated how much it looked like he had caked on mascara. I remember how he bitched about his hair looking like it had been "shoe polished an' not buffed". Picky, picky, picky and critical of himself in all ways. wjh

Great interview! That is the one that his friend Maye Man did on the set of one of his films, she was NOT allowed by the Col. to interview Elvis but she did and did not use her voice on it...he kept her from using it in any way publicly. I am so glad it's available now! He is just being Elvis, wise, thoughtful and honest and natural because he was speaking with someone he trusted and liked very much. Thanks for posting it! It sounds kind of like one that I have and parts of others in regard to what he is revealing and choosing to say about his life. He wanted change even then, but he was signed to so many films and had no say...and so he tried not to be controversial about it of offend.
GO BACK UP PEOPLE, CHECK OUT THE POST ABOVE THIS ONE FOR THE LINK TO A GREAT INTERVIEW WITH JUST ELVIS ON IT!!!

A long time ago, RCA made a special LP with theses interviews.
I found it
Elvis talk! The Elvis Presley interview record - an audio self-portrait. Number: 6313-1-R
Side A : The 1956 interview
Side BL The 1960-61 interview
This was produced by Joan Deary.
