Elvis & Marilyn Monroe -- is it true?

Postby Blue Moon » Tue Oct 31, 2006 12:12 am

The below was taken from elvispresleynews.com. Wanda, what is your opinion, true or not?

Elvis Presley bedded Marilyn Monroe within minutes of meeting her. Elvis' former agent, Byron Raphael, who kept the secret one-night stand quiet for 50 years, but has now revealed all in a US interview. He claims bosses at the William Morris Agency wanted Presley and Monroe to date for a publicity stunt in 1956, but the actress refused. Raphael said: "Initially, Marilyn turned him down because she felt it was too public." However, Presley refused to "give up" and two weeks later he asked Raphael to "pick up Marilyn" and bring her to his room at the Beverly Wilshire hotel. "When Elvis saw her, they came together and, without saying a word, started kissing. I was in shock and I didn't know what to do. Then Marilyn, who was 10 years older, said, 'You're pretty good for a guitar player.'

"After two minutes, they went into the bedroom and I didn't know if I was supposed to leave, or stay and wait for them, so I just dozed off. The next thing I knew I was startled awake by the door opening and I dove behind the bar. And they both walked out stark naked." Byron initially kept quiet about the rendezvous because he knew it was the "sort of thing that could ruin their careers" and Monroe was also still married to Arthur Miller.

Just for my two cents worth, had heard on another board that this Byron Raphael has come forth with other such "sensational stories" but he's "away with the fairies" and will tell anything he can think of to get a quick story anyway!!

Laurie, It was just something that he seemed to feel was personal and I didn't feel that it needed to be exploited around-and besides that, I don't know the truth of the story-but I would bet on the fact that if Elvis liked her, he would not have wanted the "details" out anywhere by anyone and I certainly am not going to say one way or the other. I only know what he said, and it was all nice, clean and respectful concerning Marilyn and he said in the interview that she was at the club he was playing early in his career in Hollywood and that he "shouldn't of been there-but there I was" and when the spotlight lit her up-he lost all train of thought and couldn't remember finishing the show!!! And then he told me about living at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and etc: and he was very respectful and didn't imply anything, in fact just the opposite. But I could easily see him liking her alot-she had everything he liked in females and too, she was unhappy and her husband was abusive-that alone would touch Elvis' heart. wjh

Thanks for sharing Wanda.

I guess we'd better keep that story here on ELC.

I am not going to post it on other forums where the tread of Marillyn and Elvis is also discussed.

Thank you for sharing the information about Elvis and Wanda!! Appreciate that you would not want this to go any further and a good idea, Nadine to keep on ELC only too!
