It was while filming 'Harum Scarum' that Elvis began in earnest to pursue his spiritual studies. When the film wrapped, Elvis presented the cast and crew with watches that he had Harry Levitch, one of his favorite jewelers, design. It featured both a cross and a Star of David and symbolized for Elvis 'universal brotherhood'.
What a beautiful piece of jewellery and of course there was an anecdote that has been repeated fairly often, that when Elvis was asked about why he chose to wear a pendant depicting two different faith's symbols he replied that he didn't want to miss going to Heaven over a technicality! Not exact quote but do think that is very true, typical of his open-ness towards world beliefs, spiritual faiths etc! Is also pretty cute, don't you think?!
