Elvis - A Lighted Candle

Excerpt from a letter to WJH dated 12/12/06 from a woman that may have been Sheila Ryan.

I had very good seats for the show (1970), stage front and near the center. Elvis came out looking like a living work of art, my heart was numbed by the beauty that shone from his eyes, the grace of his body and when he smiled light radiated from him expanding over the entire room. The ‘glory’ of his radiance could be heard in the gasps from those around me, the silence that sealed the air space when he stopped to speak to us, to touch us physically with his voice, and when he came near and looked at me I felt his spirit surround me, and his eyes were extensions of his hands on my face, my body. Our eye locked for what seemed like a day. I saw his soul shining brilliantly in those eyes - it was beautiful, alive and filled with so many emotions I was held as in a trance. Then he was gone and I was left an empty shell - and I wanted more of him, all of him. I had never felt such deep, spiritual longing in my life. It was as if he were a missing part of me, a part that I had to have replaced now that I had found it.

Thanks Maia, for sharing this. I to know just how she feels, I sometimes feel as though a part me has left since Elvis as been gone. I also know just watching one of his concerts or anything, how Elvis puts you in trance. You affraid to even Blink for fear of missing Elvis do something, your not even aware of the other actors in his movies or the other people on stage with him. FairyTale!

The feeling that lady expressed in that letter, was the same I felt hearing his voice, even not being in his physical presence! Just imagine if one was in front of him...!

I had to come to my inner SELF presence, to transcend that kind of feeling. I needed many years to get to this point. Now I do not long for anything, because I already know in my Heart that there is not separateness at all. (I assure you this is not theory, but a fact deeply felt.)

Just a deep beautiful description in that letter.

I had never felt such deep, spiritual longing in my life.

Elvis had something truly special in a spiritual sense, which she did not have (or wasn't attuned to), causing her to long for what he had. It awakened some emptiness in her. She was missing something she didn't even know she was missing till she met Elvis.
Beyond Elvis' talent and good looks, I think this is one reason why so many people are attracted to Elvis. Whether they know it or not, they are attracted to the powerful light & love of God in Elvis.
