I have been feeling today that we lost so very much more the day that sweet Elvis left us to go back home. Much more than we realized then and today even more as we learn more and more about the person named Elvis. Anne Bancroft said once "He understands not only with his brain but with his heart, too. Not quite sure, but maybe that's the key."
Anne was not specifically talking about any certain "He" but her quote is most correct as it is applied to all of the goodness that Elvis brought to us during his short time on earth.
Elvis, it has been said, sang from his heart and then the songs traveled up through his voice for all to hear and to marvel at the gift of what this one man was presenting to the world.
Elvis had a key that acted to unlocking the generous nature of his soul and we in return loved him even more. He was insecure about not going to college and was quite proud of the high school diploma that he earned. There are many in this world who qualify as 'book smart' and then there are people who are experienced by other facets that touched their lives and made them stronger or weaker.
Elvis' heart was so big and so loving that he kept 'singing the song' even when he should have been resting. Elvis was a very smart man but most of us here in the ELC family know that Elvis lived his life from his very special heart. He wanted to not 'be Elvis' at different parts of his life but he said that he had too many people who were depending on him to keep on singing because they did not have much money.
In my reflection time today this is what I was thinking about and I wanted to share it with you.
