For Elvis
You were born on an windy and cold day in January of 1935 in a tiny house, and to keep you warm a shoebox was lined and you were placed in this shoebox and the oven was turned on so that its warmth could help you to survive those first few days,
I believe that this may have happened and the warmth kept you physically alive as you struggled to stay here each of those first days on earth; but your First Father kept you safe from harm's way as he watched from far away and HE listened closely to the tiny beats of your heart,
He determined that you would live because he had a special plan for you
that was revealed slowly over the years as you grew from infant, to toddler, to boy, to man and then HE decided you were ready to do the work he had set out for you to complete while here on earth,
He gave you a gift that allowed you to sing in such a glorious way that many were drawn to you and to your generous heart; and in that way you were doing His work because you sang from deep within that beautiful heart that was full of His love and you shared your gospel songs that praised HIM,
It was free will that he had given to you that enabled you to make good decisions and bad decisions because above all else you were a human man who sought fame and fortune, and you did become famous,
Many who you trusted took advantage of you and your gift and of your generous heart and they will have to answer to Him one day,
You began your spiritual journey and your path was littered with obstacles that did seem like a mountain, yet you stayed on that quest and you tried to teach others about what they, too, could find on a spiritual journey. Your decision to ask questions and seek answers from many sources made many around you nervous. They were afraid that one day you would stop being Elvis. Because then what would they do?
On the day that you had to surrender to HIM was a sad, sad day for all of those who loved you that had to stay behind, but you were finally in a place with no pain.
He who gave you such a gift did ask much of you and you knew that there were times that you let him down, and you let yourself down and that was the free will that He had given to you when he gave you your special and precious heart and soul, that allowed you to sing and your songs made others happy,
Your gift of song still brings many to stop and listen to what you were singing and some go and to visit your home in Memphis. You are with Him now but your spirit will live on forever.
