I spent the afternoon writing out Christmas cards today and the postal stamps are snowflakes and that got me to thinking about how it is not likely that two snowflakes are ever alike; and that made me stop and to weigh how Elvis was unlike anyone else in the time he spent here on earth,
He lives now far away, and with the family he loved, whether at home or out and far away, and for that I say thank you to God because he made Elvis and he gave him the special gift of song that millions stopped to listen to when it was Elvis singing,
I thank God because he knew exactly when Elvis needed to come back to his first home, up among the stars that shine a little brighter and cast the beautiful light that they do, because Elvis is there and with no more pain, but instead he is just loved by those with him and we know he no longer endures the hurting in his heart that he did on that hot day in August of 1977,
As the holidays approach and I listen to beautiful Elvis singing Christmas songs with a voice filled with such a joyous sound that allows me to feel more content in my heart on a day that I miss him so very much; I thank God for lending Elvis to us in this world even if it was for a short amount of time,
Christmas is a beautiful holiday and Elvis loved it and he shared his feelings about what was really important about December the 25th with some others, and anyone who knew him is aware of what Elvis said about Christmas and some of us took that into our hearts, too,
Unique. Loving. Precious of spirit. Beautiful. Charismatic. Humble. Pure in his heart. Vulnerable. Insecure. Laughter. All of these adjectives and more, flit into my brain when I think of Elvis Presley. His ability to inspire me to be the best person that I can be, is one of the wonderful gifts he left to mankind. Another is the act of helping others. A man or a woman never is so tall as when bending down to listen to a child. Elvis did that and much, much more.
Thank you God and thank you Elvis.
