A Little Book of Aloha - Renata Provenzano

Postby Rainbow Light » Wed Jun 07, 2006 10:46 am

Re-discovered this sweet little book in my drawer when looking for something else as is often the case. The subtitle is Hawaiian Proverbs and Inspirational Wisdom and thought it would be nice to share, hope you enjoy, as follows:

'A 'OHE LOKOMAIKA'I I NELE I KE PANA'I. -
NO KIND DEED HAS EVER LACKED IT'S REWARD

An opportunity to help another is a gift.
To Live with Aloha is to have a giving nature.
Give for the pleasure of giving, do not expect something in return.

___________________________________________________________

HE KEHAU HO'OMA 'EMA 'E KE ALOHA (GLAD I ONLY HAVE TO TYPE THAT
AND NOT SAY IT! )
LOVE IS LIKE A CLEANSING DEW

The cleansing power of Aloha can soothe and heal.
Love removes hurt.
Love Conquers All.

_____________________________________________________________

'IKE NO I KA LA O KA 'IKE, MANA NO I KA LA O KA MANA
THERE IS A TIME FOR KNOWLEDGE AND A TIME FOR MANA (POWER)

You always have a choice: to think or to act but do not react without thinking.
Sometimes in life you are learning ........ sometimes you put learning into practice .... but you never finish learning.
Follow your instincts.

_____________________________________________________________

HE MANU KE ALOHA, 'A 'OHE LALA KAU 'OLE
LOVE IS LIKE A BIRD, THERE IS NO BRANCH IT DOES NOT PERCH UPON

Love comes to all.
Allow love to flow freely around you and to rest upon you.
The power of love gains full flight when you give it wings.

Wishing you peace and blessings,

Sue

Thanks for sharing these proverbs Sue. They are truly bits of precious wisdom.

Give for the pleasure of giving, do not expect something in return . . . The power of love gains full flight when you give it wings.
Elvis certainly practiced this.

It behooves one to sense God as dwelling within each of us, rather than as some distant entity, far above and seemingly beyond our reach.

Hope no-one minds me bringing this one back?! It really is a sweet and charming little book and a sweet gift for either oneself or a special dear one in your life. Pretty illustrations and spiritual, beautiful words add up to a very special, positive book! :D

Those are words that he often came out with, and probably had no clue that they were in a book based on Hawaian insight. But maybe he did.
I know he practiced many things from the Bible teachings, especially about giving and forgiving, expecting nothing in return. And loving everyone regardless of their circumstanc or position in life. Young and old, didn't matter to him. We differed on a few things, but I don't think I ever really "won" him over on some of them either, though he listened, commented and gently "informed me" of his own belief and the fact he wasn't going to change it. wjh

Thank you for the information about that precious book, Sue-Lenora!

Profound wisdom and ancient Hawaiian culture go hand in hand. The same happens with Indian Native American from North to South. And little of them is known... until now. Things are starting to change!

Yes, most certainly, Amanda! :) :P

You're most welcome, by the way! And how wonderful for Wanda to have been able to share Elvis faith, beliefs and spoken of such with him! :P :P
