From Elvisnews:
Quote:
Actress and former 1960s sex symbol Barbara Whatley, 70, said to the UK Daily Mail newspaper that [she] has been invited by an American entrepreneur to pose naked for a calendar of women involved with Elvis Presley, who asked her to marry him in 1966 after they'd canoodled in Malibu.

My question to you Wanda is did Elvis ever mention this marriage proposal to you? If what Barbara is saying is true, then he must have had mixed feelings about Priscilla at the time. Or perhaps she is exaggerating? What do you think?

Hi, Well, I don't have any knowledge about this lady at all- however, there have been a lot of women in his past who said he "proposed" marriage etc: and it is highly likely in his very unique style of charming the birds out of trees etc:...they may have taken it to heart as a proposal...
Elvis was a sweetheart and sometimes he went a little beyond what one might expect; I have wondered at times when reading and hearing these rembrances from some of the women who spent time with him, was he building up their confidnece in themselves? Did he use that "super vision" and look into their inner beings, their hearts and see a bit of fear, or lack of self confidnece in their woman hood or personal opinion of themselves, and did he either by choice or just naturally woo them a bit to give them a boost in their self approval ratings? Now that's just my thoughts, who knows? Not me, he might have just been being a guy on the prowl and using any line that worked???? hummmm.... As he said, "I ain't no saint!".

Whatever, she has some beautiful memories I am sure...and that's what counts at this time in her life...as well as back then. Good for her, she remembers him. That's what he hoped for---

Even though I was only born in 1964 and Elvis was old enough to be my father, if I could turn back time and have been born twenty years earlier...................................... :?:

I don't think I would feel flattered to be asked to "pose naked" just because Elvis had proposed marriage....but then, I'd never look that good anyway! He said he'd had so many women ask him to marry them- and another bunch who wanted to have his baby-
and I bet he wasn't expanding on any of it either!

I will soon be able to be on line and do everything you all can do- like open things and listen and view things! And be on Hughs net to do it! A few more weeks...

We have been so busy this past week- I didn't try to get on line for days- Foxx had to have surgery- (our white horse) on his left eye- he had a squamus cell carcinoma come up suddenly- it spreads fast and did- fortunately we had the vet look at it thinking we'd get some antibotic stuff as it appeared like just an infection- but no- it was dangers and could have cost him his eye or his life even. So we had to get him to the hospital and fast. He had laser surgery, they think they got it and it might not ever return but then again, one can't ever be sure of such things. He being a pink skinned horse is subject to this type thing- it's the UV rays that do it- and we live onthe side of a mountain that is decomposed grainte and reflects UV rays every direction. We've had him in shade, had a fly mask that cut out much of the UV as possible and yet he still got it- one can't ever be sure of anything like that I guess. We also had him gelded while he was knocked out and too, it was less expensive as a trip just for that. He had to have it done there as he had such big veins and could later on have bled to death before a vet could get here etc:... anyway, he will be more comfortable in summer heat and he will be able to do more not being a stud. We had to carry liability insurance on him to show or parade him before and now won't need to carry extra just because he was a stallion and might be "dangerous". He's 14 and we plan to give him to his former trainer and rider whom he loves and she loves him. She has a nice place, trains and shows and he will be an asset for her business as he was before...and he will have a job. He needs a job, all horses and dogs do or they go find one and sometimes it's the wrong kind...
So that's whats going on here. Jim and I are two of a kind, he has a bum knee and I have a bum hip- we waddle like ducks up and down this hillside. I am giving up walking up it- I will be driving down from now on! I won't have a hip replacement- no way! No more going "under" the knife or drugs again! The weather is good, and things are looking up now that the big scare is over. We have to put stuff in Foxx's eye 5 times a day and watch him carefully a few days- then take him back to be checked. He's doing fine but he has a boo-boo in his eye he tells us and he's sore of course in other areas too.
He's a big baby right now but he deserves to be "cuddled". Everyone at the Equine Hosp. raved about how well mannered he was, how he stood at attention to be treated, how he was so easy to handle and they thought he was beautiful. None of them had ever seen a white, pinkskinned horse like him- I have to tell them the Lone Ranger's Silver was one of them too. Anyway, he attracted lots of attention there. Even the guy who hauled him home (we didn't want to risk taking him in our trailer- it's too small for him though it was perfect when he was younger) said he "knew that horse was some one famous because he was "dressed so well"". He was wearing his show blanket, leg protectors and hoof boots to keep him safe in transit...and the driver said most horses weren't so well cared for. He looked at all our horses when he dropped him off home and thought they were all so well cared for- he was surprised because he sees some really poorly cared for horses from race tracks etc:. He said you could always tell what kind of handler/owners horses had when you went down the line- those who had good care were friendly and trusting and the others were "snakes in the grass" who'd take off your hand if you didn't watch them. Foxx did strut his stuff, he thought he was going to the breeding center to see the "dummy" Estelle, so he was excited and announced his presence, then he danced incase "she" might be around to see. But he minded the handlers and did as asked. They laughed at our "Estelle" stories, and how he even knew her "name"... He most likely will never forget it either!
well bye,
love to all
soon I will be "sailing" again...via sat-tell-llllite! Yea....hoo!
Wjh

The kittens are sooo cute- I'll learn to post pictures! And mom Spyder Girl has been fixed. She is spoiled, she wants out so badly and she tore a hole in my bamboo shade in the bedroom trying to find a way out. I can't leave - she cries and carrys on if I do. I am her person I guess... oh well, just one more to "stumble" over-

:hello:
Post Script added: 4/29/-9: I have been watching and reading about "swine flu" and from what has been said and MOSTLY not mentioned at all- is that this virus is "made up of" BIRD, human and swine
materials. I believe this is the "Bird Flu" that we have all been hearing about and getting warnings about for some time and it is finally here- big time. And it's spreading rapidly from state to state and I DO NOT believe it is being transmitted totally by humans- probably hardly at all as IF birds can carry it- then that is a fast and wide spreading around the world- which is happening more every day. There is NO immunity to it they say, as it is so "new" to humans- BUT most people will have a mild case and then be over it and immune- only those run down, weak or what ever from health problems and / or other things that "run them down" will have a harder time with it...and those also will be the ones who might die and have died. We have it here now- in Paris which is about 10 miles West of us and also in 29 Palms out side of Palm Springs and where the military base is located. The fellow who has it there WAS not in Mexico or even near anyone who had been- there are a great number of birds around that base- Starla and her band played there a few times...lots of birds everywhere as it was a source of water and food for them. We live on a bird path- right now we have birds that should be in Mexico by now and also a mocking bird who does not sing local songs- he is from the midwest states judging by his songs.
Anyway, just wanted to pass this information on, and I believe that sooner or later this information will come out as a few people on tv have mentioned the combination of "materials" that make up the virus.
Bird flu has been "feared" for so long a time, and then others have "tuned out" to it so they had to come up with a new "name" to get attention maybe and NOT panic people with the "birds"? Keep those hands clean and stay away from bird droppings as much as possible. Don't go around them, keep clear of live chickens and etc; and away from people who look like they have a fever- that is the first clue- head ache and feverish, then vomiting and etc:... It is possible Starla already had it- she was pretty sick a few days ago and still has the cough thing now and then- she's out in the public all the time and too, we live on the bird path- they all stop off here.
Take care, be well...

It's Tuesday, the time does fly! On laser light time I think. We are cold at night and not so hot days thank heaven, especially since Foxx (our white horse) has had eye surgery- it's doing okay but he still has pain and it has to be treated 4 times a day with one thing and once a day with another and then kept clean, etc: day and night. He wears fly masks, we have two new ones so he has a clean one every morning with duct tape above the "boo-boo" eye so it keeps some of the sun light from making him squint so much and then another clean one for night to keep the bedding out of his eye when he sleeps.
He is on straw right now but he prefers wood shavings (me also as they repell flies better). Anyway, because he was gelded he can't have shavings until that area is healed. It's doing great- but the eye is still questionable as to if they "got it all" or not. It's a little cloudy in the areas that were lasered and cut on other wise it looks pretty well and he will still have most of his vision via about 3/4s of his eye. We caught it early but I sure wish I had taken a good look a few weeks earlier- this type cancer can grow very quickly and his did. It's weird, when I was about l5 or so our cow "Babe" that we had from a young calf, had the exact same type thing in her eye- at that time we didn't know what it was other than it was some type cancer we thought- even the vet I spoke with about it thought cancer. Anyway, the minute I saw the thing on Foxx's eye I had a flash back to our cow's eye. It just seemed right to give Foxx a chance to keep his eye- and this was the only way. Laser surgery for horses- amazing! And it was the same doctor who worked on a young mare we had many years ago- we still have her! She had surgery, has a fine wire mesh support for her tummy and she's been fine all these years. Strange though that he'd be the one who had the knowledge and expertise to help with Foxx- or is it?
The kittens are doing great- Starla has some super photo's of them. They are so different one from another in colors and personalities. Mom will be back with them tomorrow- she remembers them and knows their names when I speak to her about them. I think she will be glad to be with them and they sure will be happy to see her! They love their playroom home in the cat house, it looks like we have a preschool going in there with all the "toys" and things they have to play with and boy, they play with them all every day! I keep coming up with new things- just boxes, things that rattle or the wind will make "look alive". A large twig full of mull berry leaves kept them busy and interested for hours yesterday! The wind kept things fluttering and that was very interesting to their little eyes. It looks pretty battered this morning but still keeping them occupied some what.
Well, got to get off, my computer just told me that AOL is not responding- which means a big freeze is coming soon!
I will soon have things fixed with a new connection and computer! Can't be soon enough!!! I miss ELC and all my family on here....
love to all,
wjh

Wanda, I just love your stories. Wow, that's a crazy cancer that your beautiful white horse got. I am glad he is going to be OK. You sure do take great care of all those critters. I think that this is God's purpose for you. You are so special and I hope you realize that. I think of all the animals that wouldn't have survived if it wasn't for you. I bet too many to count.

I can't wait to see pictures of all the kittens. There is nothing cuter than baby animals. They can make you dance away your aches and pains for sure or they sure make you want to anyway. I am glad to hear that you will be up and running soon, computer wise. Sorry to hear about you and Jim having to gimp around. I know the feeling. I have been green with my back and my post herpetic neuralgia for some time now. I only get out minimally for now.

Take great care of yourself and those critters Wanda. You and your stories are a real treasure.
