That funny part about Elvis stepping with one feet on Wanda's table would be a wonderful piece for YouTube, indeed! We would love to see it, maybe getting a glimpse of Wanda and family.

Just for the Holiday's a little fun and insight-from interview tapes not used/WR,E. talking about trying to stop biting his nails. The time he refers to is when he was about 27years old.]
Elvis: Not really...eh...one time had enough to manicure-(Snickers) had good reason to let 'em grow that time-was worth it!
Wanda: And that was....
Elvis: (Laughing) Maybe you don't wanta know.
Wanda: One of those incidents-well, just to toss you a curve-tell me!
Elvis: Oh... eh, it's not nothin' bad-jus' funnin' with you really.
Wanda: Uh-huh...
Elvis: There was this girl...at the studio when we were makin' a film for Paramount an' she was a manicurist-it was her job to make sure we all had nice lookin' hands... You know for films, 'cause ever thin' showed up big time on screen.
Wanda: So you were letting them grow so she could do your hands-I see.
Elvis: (Laughs) Guess you could...put it that way. Sure wanted her to.....do ....me, yeah.
Wanda: Watch it bud...
Elvis: (Snickers) Would 'ove... She was a good lookin' chick man, from Portugal an' she had dark hair that shone like it was laced with gold, soft brown eyes an' a smile that lit up the room...'n then man, she was jus' fine ever where else...lordy, close ma eyes an' still can seeher an' that smile. Anyway, enough of that! I let 'em grow to get a date-she wouldn't date none of us-no body in the business you know. Not one actor for sure she said. I was doin' ever thing I couuld to get her to-to give me a chance. But she wouldn't do nothin' but make sure my hands were okay-that nothin' showed up you know, doin' Karate an' stuff I'd get marks and such an' sometimes my nails would be bruised an' all that. She was all the time gettin' on me for bein' so rough on my hands-said I had such nice hands, masculine but delicate an' sensitive an' once she said I had healin' hands and she put my hand over her heart. Liked to died man, that was a big deal with her-nobody ever had her do nothin' like that before...none of the guys, ya know...(Laughs).
Wanda: So who did you make a bet with-half the studio?
Elvis: What...no, didn't, not that time. (Laughs) But they were all waitin' to see if I had what it takes.
Wanda: And?
Elvis: Well, she was on her way to her car an' I followed her out to talk see, an' she was talkin' real nice with me an' I asked her out an' she kind of smiled and said somethin' 'bout me singin' to her. So I sang Love Me Tender...an' when I got to the part about makin' all my dreams come true, she come up real close an' put her arms around me for a hug, an' then whispered if I'd s top bitin' my nails an' she could file 'em she'd think about makin' all my dreams come true. Lord, she was...was so soft- in all the right places...lordy, lordy. So I let 'em grow out...jus told ma self ever time started to chew on 'em ...think of how it felt huggin' her-an it worked!
Wanda: Good grief, I might have known!
Elvis: We went out-well, she came over to the house, an' we had dinner an' watched a couple movies an' it was Christmas nearly an' she was goin' home for that. We sat outside an' watched the lights comin' on down in town ya know, an looked at the stars-she knew 'em all too. So we talked almost until time to go to work an' she went home. (Big sigh)
Wanda: That was it huh?
Elvis: Yeah...she got married a couple months later to some guy she met from her country-had known him for years. 17 years older'n her too- Gawd...what a difference...in ages, I mean. Looked like he was her daddy! But can't tell about love...'n she loved him she said, so can't fault her for that. I tried to change her mind but she wouldn't budge,so guess it was a good thing. Last I heard, they still were together back in Portugal. Lord! Story of my life-let'n the good ones get away...

I wish I had a picture of him performing with his foot on our table! We had one taken of all us by the photo girl but he hadn't come on yet. And the bootleg tape is not ours- we aren't in it except for heads-mostly the back of our heads too! He's in it though-it's on beta of course!
All our stuff is on beta that we had when he was alive-and right after when all the bootleg stuff started coming out-this one guy had sooo much stuff he'd filmed in Vegas, Tahoe and on tour as well-he sold it of course, and we had some of it. Still do-I have to get that darn beta fixed! Starla remembers it as not being good quality but I recall seeing it-of course that was on big screen at the pizza palor where we'd all got to watch films of him and etc;...it looked pretty good on a big screen-that's also where we saw the aura's of his and the guys on stage-how they'd leap from his hand to them if he came up and touched or reached out to get a scarf. That was erie to say the least and also wonderful-it wasn't good film of anything but the aura's! We have lost touch with that guy and all those people except for a few who don't know where most of the others are now either. I think the fellow with the film has gone to his reward-so have no clue as to where or what happened to his stuff. Some of it has shown up on video and probably DVDs too. Quite of abit of the bootleg things are available that way now-including his, I guess.

Well no wonder why that lady was playing so hard to get. She had marriage plans to another fellow already in her heart when Elvis met her, and poor Elvis didn't know it until well after he was smitten with her. Still, he took it all in stride.

He didn't chew them off so much when he was with Linda either-there were some times he actually had a bit of nail on both hands! I think as he got older he kind of got a handle on it some-though the last time I saw him, he didn't have any left but he had a bruised fingernail and a black spot on his thumb nail- one would think he had been a carpenter or something! he also had scratches in various stages of healing on both hands up to where his sleeves protected his wrists. He had been on tour of course, and just couldn't keep from reaching out to people where they could reach him. He said, sometimes he just felt that he "had to touch them". I sure have enjoyed the Aloha DVD and am going to watch the last part of the second one tonight...like now! wjh

Wow, he was really something. I am enjoying hearing all these special things about him. Not many people know this side of him and it is so refreshing to get the details that really count. It is also so nice to get a glimpse of the inner person that was Elvis.
I just love the way he speaks about Cilla, you can just see how he adores her. I know he says that he is glad she got involved in the karate because it at least took her mind off of what he was up to, maybe her being insecure and worried about him and all the girls really made things difficult for them.....
Whenever I read about him and Cilla I get so very sad as they almost seemed so perfect but the way of life and his life just made it impossible....
Wanda, do you think she and Elvis in the later years kind of disolved a lot of their differences, even if they never got back together again, surely things were said to kind of get closure? Mind you I have read that Cilla did say the things she really needed to say to him. It just seems that he loved her until the day he died, although there were many other woman. Some of the woman that he went out with said that they were never intimate with him but rather just spoke about all sorts of things. Others of course say that they were......
This is is all very fascinating..... Why is that? It has been 30 years and still people so deparately want to know all about these two people and the world that they were part of...
I keep reading how Cilla was no virgin when she got married or involved with Elvis, that she did not really love Elvis and that her relationship with Elvis was a plan that was set up by her and her mother......
People judge her on the fact that she has kept his surname and has become one of the key players at EPE. How can people be so naieve and judge mental. Surely this is not all true. I just do not believe it.
She must get so upset when she hears things like this, but then again I am sure she has had to just ignore all of it....
Wanda, I would love to hear your thoughts on these things i have mentioned.

Hi Vixen,
Well, I think that the general public always has loved a good romantic story and if the end isn't good, they like it even more. Maybe it resonates with something in their lives? With Elvis and Priscilla there was the Cinderella theme and they had a perfect look together, then had the beautiful baby girl etc: and Elvis was so handsome during those days-he just became "unreal" looking in many ways...then she was so beautiful too, and so much said and written and so many photographs etc: and all the hooey that went along with being Mr. & Mrs E. Presley etc:...it was everyone's ideal of what a wonderful marriage and great love should be.
I too have heard the stories even before they separated- and how Elvis didn't love her but had to marry her etc because he had "made promises" to her parents and to her. But I believe he did love her, he raised her and she was so much like his kid or sister in many ways too, yet he had theis strong tie with her. He felt that maybe they had been a couple in past lives and that was what he felt for her-that tie to the past. Whatever he loved her very much, but in the end he said he guessed that it wasn't the kind of love he ought to have felt and maybe she couldn't take knowing that or something. He just didn't seem to know exactly what happened between them except that he was too wrapped up in his career to notice her pain and lonliness. He said maybe he could have done better, but it was too late and too little by then.
He said she was a virgin...myabe if he knew or it wasn't so-he meant that he had not been with her in the "biblical" sense. So to him she was...and if he knew differently, he never said a word and I don't think he felt that way or thought it. He said he waited for marriage with her because he wanted it right, he wanted a man of God a real preacher to marry them but of course that didn't happen.
I guess that they represent the great romance of our time-and I don't think he ever got over her entirely, she had been in his life for so long a time, she filled a place that needed filling when his mom died, she loved him and he said took care of him and that he was the one at fault, he didn't take care of things when he should have and so he lost her. He would never say differently. I think he would have loved to have her back in his life in those last two years...I think he was reaching out for her, for something he could hang on to but she wouldn't come back to him again. I think it was just he knew inwardly if not outwardly that his time was close, that it would be his last chance to "fix things" and make it right, but he waited too long and he was gone. Pris said she wished she had known the last time she talked to him, he was calling her late at night, early am just as he did other people, and they were talking alot.
She wished she could have said things to him that he would have loved to know but she didn't and it was too late. I believe she wishes she had gone back to be with him, to be a family as he wanted, but he didn't tell her and she didn't know. I think he knew. I always will. wjh

Bringing this Back Up for the Members that haven't read it before! Wanda June Hill wrote: W. I don't know about that! That body looks pretty darn good up there on stage-the face ain't bad either! E. Yeah...thank you honey. I try to look good as I can-you know, it's not easy. Spend six hours ever day standin' in front of a-a mirror tellin' myself...(uses best Elvis voice) "Look good, boy! Look good, now!" An' it takes me so damn long to get made up, ya know. What's really hard is coverin' this...third eye-I wonder if surgery would help? W. Third eye... E. Yeah-in the middle of my forehead-it's huge, purple an' red' 'n got this ugly orange pupil. Man, fillin' IT with make up is a drag! W. Oh, good grief-one of THOSE moods-huh? Silly Elvis? That's what we have to look forward to tonight? E. (Laughs) Well, anyway-don't know why I'm lookin' as well as I do-but thank God for it! It'd be hell to be UGLY and be HIM! W. It sure would! Thank heaven you are overbearingly handsome. E. Now watch it kid-don't go getin' fisty, have to cut you down a peg or two... Got my hair cut an' dyed today-it's kinda short. We styled it different first, then I wanted it the same, so by the time it g rows out again, we'll be done here! (Laughs) W. Ahhhh Priscilla won't like that... E. I know, she likes it longer. It'll grow out some before I see her though. You know she got her orange belt last week-she's so cute in her little gi and doin' the routines. Man, could just squeeze her to death! An she loves it-just loves it too. I told her she'd enjoy it, if she'd try. It's somethin' we can do together. (Very pleased tone of voice, speakings lovingly, sincerely) W. That's good, you spend so much time on karate... E. Yeah-she's goin' to classes four times a week 'n trials on weekends, so she's busy. I'm glad, 'cause she doesn't spend so much time worryin' bout what I'm doin'...or not doin.... Man, that's a-a relief! W. I'll bet. you just make sure you don't forget she's not watching you and be tempted past your limit, boy! She'll be able to really kill you now! E. Don't I know it! (snickers) She'll clobber me! Not a chance I'll be tempted past my limit! I'm too damn scared of her! Man, she might be little but she's got a nasty temper. You know, Lisa is so cute, she stomps her foot an' shakes her finger at me...just like her momma. Man, she so cute! Love to make her angry jus' to see her do that- she's just a real little dolly. Goddd, I can't wait to see that kid! Seems like a year...'n it hasn't been but a couple weeks! W. Do you call her Elvis? E. Ever day-sometimes two or three times. She's a real talker-blabs ever thing. Cilla can't have a secret-if Lisa knows, she'll tell me 'n ruin her surprise! I love it-it's so funny when she does that. Cilla says she ought to let Lisa stay with me, then she'd know ever thing I did-in detail! Lisa don't miss a trick...'n the kid's got super-sonic ears! Man, she can hear a whisper in the next room! I got good hearin' too, you know, guess she inherited it or somethin'...me 'n her can talk real soft 'n Cilla can't hear what we're sayin'...bugs her! (Laughs) W. She sounds like a really cute kid... E. You know it-she is! Oh sh.... I got to eat somethin' so I can get ready-time flies man. See ya out there honey, sittin' close? W. If we can...I think we'll be pretty close. E. Okay, doin' it jus' for you all tonight, friendly faces- like that. Gonna surprise you all...so watch out! W. Oh-a threat....okay, we'll be watching. see ya. bye. (This was the night he practically knelt on our table and did that upper body shimmy and got such a kick out of doing it. At least one lady squealed-not me-I laughed.)
